Accessories For Big Girls

Plus size women always find it challenging even when it comes to buying basic clothing for their daily use. Yes we have more options for these full-figured ladies but it has always been a battle trying to find the right cut and design that flatters their body type.

While shopping for plus size clothing may be a bit of a challenge, finding accessories is a breeze. This is one area where most rules don’t apply and plus size women have a little bit more freedom in choosing what looks good on them.

So here are some accessorizing tips for all of you full-figured goddesses out there:

Karry O silver earrings

Always wear chunkier and oversized earrings as they will draw more attention to the face. These earrings will accentuate the face and your natural beauty instead of highlighting the area which you might not feel too comfortable with. Go for something more neutral like plain silver or amp it up with semi-precious stones or even diamonds for special occasions.

Alex and Ani necklace

Avoid over-accessorizing. Skip the necklace if you have ‘busy’ top on. If your top has too much going on—maybe graphic prints and frills (think Pucci and Dianne Von Furstenberg), opt for some bangles instead. As for turtlenecks and lace tops, necklace is not needed at all.

Matthew Williamson oversize brooch

A plain looking top or dress could be elevated to the next level by a little bit of accessorizing. Pin an oversize brooch on your lapel or clip in Carrie Bradshaw-style corsage whenever needed. Match up your necklace and pin if you are wearing solid colored top.

Thakoon scarf

Scarf is your best friend. Sometimes if your shirt has a bit too much material, it often gives the illusion that your stomach is protruding. You can use a scarf to create a flattening effect. A belt can also be used to accentuate your waist.

Sheila Fajl rings and Alex and Ani stack-up bangles

And finally, stack up some rings on your fingers. Mix some gold and colored-stones together to get that boho-chic effect. Bangles are also great if you are wearing short-sleeve. Go for gold or Lucite bangles along with buckled bracelets like Hermes. Regardless of your dress size, you can never go wrong with rings and bangles.

Now let’s go hit the stores and stock up on some jewelries.
