Recently emmagem.com , got involved in the “ international service” and helped set up an overseas customer who wanted to send coffee along with cupcakes to a friend. Whadya know…they wrote in to emmagem.com and asked how this could be done? So , we made a few recommendations.
She chose her shop , they negotiated the payments and service . Voila! she got to send her friend a lovely surprise , the online shop got some business and emmagem.com got a whole load of satisfaction!! Now that was a brilliant day!!
Yeap , these are the little things that we at emmagem.com do, we always go out of the way to help when we can and even if we can’t we would still try !!!
I guess we all have heard the “rumour” going on about the famous mobilephone service advertisement on TV which purportedly “borrowed” an idea that originated from www.twitter.com (click on the video).
Now, is that truth or not , I am sitting on the fence here because one can never tell when exactly an idea originated. Like who made the first actual drawing on planet earth and who first became famous. But there are some things that are quite traceable and since in Malaysia, there has been of late a tendency for 95% of rumours to be badly disguised truths, I am inclined to give this “rumour” more than some benefit of doubt! You know, there are people out there who actually track these things called truths, not because they are some kind of appointed watchdogs, but simply because they know and they think others should also know it! Well… well Kylie Minogue will be kicking off her Asian tour in Hong Kong and Singapore.
How come she is not coming to Malaysia? Maybe it is too much of a challenge for her choreographer or wardrobe designers, I reckon a watered down Kylie show may not be the standard she is willing to compromise . And frankly, I don’t think I will spend good money on anything less than world standard performance. And surely she has better things to do then handle demonstrations by such and such groups who wants some attention. I certainly doubt she will be crying to defend her performance as not too sexy like a recent Indonesian artiste , poor thing . She is an artiste and she performs where her work of art is appreciated. Ballerina pumps are all the rage right now… and I love them! I wear mine everywhere I can. They go especially well with my flared Audrey Hepburn like skirt and they look great with my city shorts for work and for play . I also wear mine when I am wearing a shift dress because they sort of make me feel less formal and I get to wear a dress out for the day. High heels and stilettos with a dress is just a bit too OTT for me sometimes.

Yes, it is happening in Kuala Lumpur , 23rd August 2008 at 3pm (I read in the papers) at KL Sentral in front of Dunkin Donut… 6500 people have been invited to read simultaneously “while waiting” , and this will happen also across Singapore, Christchurch , Wellington , Sydney , Melbourne and Eindhoven . It is organised by the same group of KL Freeze project at Pavillion in June , you may have read in the papers about it or maybe you attended the event. Well, I love reading , am trying to sneak away from work to attend , see you there! Imagine the feeling of reading with so many people at the same time, WOW!
Reading is always such an individual activity and it is so novel to bring together and connecting people who are passionate about reading… and better yet encouraging in the new readers to participate in one of the most fulfilling activity around at least for my existence… Yep , even better than shopping … clothes “fills” you up on the outside, but reading can make you feel filled up inside and makes you feel really compact with all the information and knowledge and insights gleaned…and you can take on the world in all your finery!

Over the weekend, there were so many bazaars around. We couldn’t cover all, but we did go to Chics Closet at WIP Bangsar Shopping Centre. Chics Closet was awesome. It was from 11am till 6pm. The day started out slow. . . but eventually later in the day, everyone came in slowly, but surely.

I wish emmagem can separate the clothes, bags, accesories to different categories like clothes are under the clothes item and not the accesories, bag or shoes also under the same list of the clothes item, coz these are quite confusing me to looking for the real things i want, and it is quite waste the time to find out the thing that i do not interested in. Hope you really can think about my suggestion and re-categorize all of these items, thanks.

Everyone’ s going green and I don’t mean with envy but rather about saving the environment because if we all don’t start playing our part , there won’t be much of this green planet left. These days , recycling awareness from shopping bags to soda cans is ever increasing and people now realize that one of the most important things is to recycle and reduce or stop the usage of plastic bottles, plastic bags, styrofoam cups and containers (when “ta- pau” ot take -away).
I am a newbie at this green thing, I mean I grew up with plastic bags and styrofoam cups , so convenient as if my bag isn’t heavy enough with my two makeup pouches , wallet, keys, notebook (very important for business) , hand phone (akin to my whole life ,cannot live without) and oh, loads of coins , what now I must carry extra cotton bag and bring own cup and maybe saucer too.
But more and more, I am beginning to realize that if I love myself and don’t want to roast from the thinning ozone layers and drown from the melting icebergs , that is if I don’t expire first from getting poisoned after years of eating and drinking off styrofoam cups and containers, then I better start playing my small part. And as the famous Buddhist monk said on his death bed…”if only I saw the wisdom of changing myself first , I might have eventually influenced the people around me to change from my example and then perhaps I would have changed the world…”.
Well I ain’t no monk, but I do believe , everything starts from one, one intention, one small action and it always starts with one’s self first…
Lucky for me, a lot of people think like I do ( so less work on my part ,phew! just need to get more people to think alike …). Two very talented ladies have started showcasing some of their very creative conservation artworks, Miss Lisa Foo( architect and designer of EMMA House, pls look forward to our interview with her next week) and Miss Su Sim (landscape designer), I first saw some of their works at the Art Fair at The Annexe, you mite have read my article or not (shame on you, if you didn’t :-)) and I was mighty impressed , so I bought one of the table lamps featured and I am so thrilled by it….yea! I also bought a wood block covered with a page about wheels from an early encyclopedia (it’s old , it’s old), these two blocks connected by 2 hinges each has a word on it -”rot ” and “ate” but together they “rotate”, cool or what! The wood block is by Fabian Tan (another architect) .
