I’ve been to Skybar a couple of times and I really liked how it is located at the 33rd floor of Traders Hotel all high and mighty. But one thing I really didn’t like was how HOT it was. I tell you, we usually will sweat straightaway after a couple of sips of drinks. With the alcohol working plus the ambience, can sweat like mad. BUT, fret not, things will change soon. I went for an exclusive event at Skybar. It is the final party for Skybar before they undergo a renovation for 2 months starting 31st August till November 2008.
Guess what’s going to change?
It’s going to have retractable shelters (to avoid a rainy day like today) and also better air ventilation (Read: fans, Thank God!). I really love Skybar, but I hate how sweaty I get when I’m there. At the same time, the new and improved Skybar will have a whole new line up of food and a new set of signature cocktails mixed by international mixologist. (more…)
Yes, it is happening in Kuala Lumpur , 23rd August 2008 at 3pm (I read in the papers) at KL Sentral in front of Dunkin Donut… 6500 people have been invited to read simultaneously “while waiting” , and this will happen also across Singapore, Christchurch , Wellington , Sydney , Melbourne and Eindhoven . It is organised by the same group of KL Freeze project at Pavillion in June , you may have read in the papers about it or maybe you attended the event. Well, I love reading , am trying to sneak away from work to attend , see you there! Imagine the feeling of reading with so many people at the same time, WOW!
Reading is always such an individual activity and it is so novel to bring together and connecting people who are passionate about reading… and better yet encouraging in the new readers to participate in one of the most fulfilling activity around at least for my existence… Yep , even better than shopping … clothes “fills” you up on the outside, but reading can make you feel filled up inside and makes you feel really compact with all the information and knowledge and insights gleaned…and you can take on the world in all your finery!
Read more and watch the three videos about reading at their website www.randomalphabets.com

How to find a lipstick that can help me create that luscious shine on my lips?
ie: Angelina Jolie
Thanks, Allyaa
Hey Allyaa, maybe you can try Maybelline’s Watershine 3D Collagen. I went for this event recently and was introduced to this product

Maybelline’s new range of lipstick that has a collagen effect to give you that voluptious lips that you’ve always wanted. So your lips will not only look shiny, but also, pouty ala Angelina Jolie. Now don’t we all want that lip-smacking pouty lips? Just like the model in that Maybelline Advertisement, lookie at her lips! So pouty and shinyyy! Here, get a closer look:

So now we know, she wasn’t born with it, it was Maybelline’s lipstick!!! Maybe she’s born with it, Maybe its Maybelline! lols.
Luscious, pouty lip effect, yums. I’ve been given the opportunity to try on the lipstick at a Make Up Party held by Nuffnang and Maybelline. It was awesome, because we get to try on all Maybelline products
But no, we don’t get to keep them all. Although I would love to have them all. A few of us bloggers were invited for the make up party. Two of them were make up reviewers/bloggers (and pros in my opinion on make up) Paint-Me-Gorgeous and Mywomenstuff. Owh, owh, I also met Cheesie of Cheeserland aka Ringo of Malaysian Dreamgirl Finalist and also Audrey of fourfeetnine (ok, I jakun, cos i secretly stalk these girls’ blog once in a while).
Anyways, back to the party, let me show you all (okay, some of) the products that were there for our Make Up Party. Its like, whoa, such a girly party with all the make up available for us to play around and test the product. The only thing that were missing were clothes and pink walls. -_-

SO MANY. This was before we rummaged through all the make up and made a huge mess:)

The many eye shadow color palettes which comes with a 4-step instruction.

Mascara that I personally use - Volum’Express is awesome. They also have eye liners in liquid or pencil form and eye brow pencils which comes with the brush.

Liquid, Mousse and Powdered foundations under Maybelline

There were so many water shine lip glosses that we got to try on. Now I know what’s my colour and can go get one:)

Our task was simple. We had to just have fun and doll ourselves up with the make up and use the new Maybelline’s Watershine 3D Collagen Lipstick to finish off the look!
Us being girls, went straight to the make up treasure chest and started make up-ing.

So many many make up. Cheesie and Audrey don’t know where to start.

Rub rub, blend, blend. Audrey putting on make up on Cassandra.

Someone trying on Eye Liner. I’ve always used pencil eye liner. I’ve yet to master the art of liquid eye liner!

We took turns to do make ups for each other and ourselves. It was really fun as we got to learn from each other the do’s and don’ts of the art of make up-ing. I myself haven’t mastered the art of eye shadow, so the lovely Cassandra of Paint-Me-Gorgeous did my eye make up that day.

Everyone after the party. All made up!:)

She really is good at make up. She ended up doing her own make up at the end of the day. Go check out her blog at Paint-Me-Gorgeous. She reviews make up and tries them on to do write ups. Mywomenstuff too is a blogger with much experience with make ups. Go check out what they’ve reviewed and what stuff they recommend.
She actually did only one eye and I followed her lead for the other eye. I put on the Maybelline’s Watershine 3D Collagen Lipstick and wa-la and i’m done:) The lipstick was really smooth when applying. It looks uber shiny with hints of glitters on the main colour. It would work wonders if you put on lip gloss too. Added shine!:)
If you polled that you have any of that problems with lipsticks, this new Maybelline’s Watershine 3D Collagen Lipstick can solve that problem for you.
Problem 1: I have dry and visible lip line!!
Solution 1: Maybelline’s Watershine 3D Collagen Lipstick is made up of pure water and aqua collagen ingredients that will moisturize and make your lips water-soft and it will look so smooth on your lips because of the stuff in it. Your lips will not be dry anymore.
Problem 2: The lipstick has no shine which makes my lips have no dimension
Solution 2: In this new lipstick it has bubble-shaped shine molecules which gives off a multi dimensional shine. These micro molecules will help amplify the color of the lipstick and also give it a more natural and in depth look.
Problem 3: Non-lasting shine
Solution 3: Does your lip loose its shine after a few hours? Don’t worry about it as this new lipstick has this awesome shine lock and release formula that can reactivate the shine by pressing lips together. So let’s just say your lips don’t look shiny anymore, just rub your lips together and tada, you get a better shine!:)
Problem 4: Uneven Application
Solution 4: I always do not like how lipstick is too heavy on the lips because of what it was made of. This lipstick gives me the smooth light feeling because they use natural oils and collagen to make it very easy to put on.
Okay i got carried away, to answer that question:
Maybelline’s Watershine 3D Collagen Lipstick retails at RM28.90 at all major pharmacies like Watsons and Guardians. Also available at any departmental stores that carries Maybelline.
Emmagem is giving FOUR lucky readers a chance to try this lipstick. All you have to do is just. . .
Got free tickets last nite to the above musical , directed by Low Ngai Yuen and written by Yim Mei Choo with musical direction by Penny Low. This is the same group who wrote “Rose, Rose I love you” musical.
First of all, it is sponsored by Honda for the new Honda Accord , get it , No limits…
The cast is somewhat new , like comedian and I believe DJ KK Wong, Mary George , Malik Taufiq , Joanna Bessey and Gloria Ting. Perhaps the most experience actress there is Joanna Bessey, which makes the rest of them seem like amateurs.. .
Because it is a musical , the music and the singing is relative good, acting not spectacular. This would be easy peasy acting for Joanna Bessey (her toughest moment was when the evil KK, gave her multiple memories one minute Britney spears, next Auntie 18 from Kungfu Hustle and the next a temptress) and there was a moment when her experience shines through like during her love scene with Christopher. The rest of the time, it just seemed like a high school musical act, sorry…The singing by Acapella group , the Stillettos was good , but not stunning. Mary George , just did not bring out her character’s strength and heroism, though her voice was strong. Now Gloria Ting as Miss Apple, did the shrewish teacher bit quite well , I must say I’m quite impressed with her diction. Malik Taufiq, gave a new take to ‘kayu’ act with his naive boy with very long white fake lashes which could be seen batting at Joanna Bessey, his love interest (all the way from where we were seated about 8 rows away) making his shy soft character Christopher quite endearing. Btw,those arms look great on stage , Malik…very sexy against the sleeveless leather vest…he goes to my gym…yeah!
The main spill would be from KK Wong , who interspersed his English dialogue with sarky Cantonese slangs, funny, but in a sarky, crass, canto -pop way.
Oh-oh, the story line right, well it is about year 2035, a strange magnetic force has caused the world’s population to lose all their memory save for Mary George, who as a scientist escaped the event cause she was caught in her own time warp experience . And when she returned found that she had to do the right thing and give the world their memories back. KK as the evil assistant turned villain, who objected to her giving back the memory to the people, good or bad as is because that is what is right, decided to jump ship and make his own machine to give people perfect or ideal memories. Now NLP practitioners would really relate to him , cause he talks about creating perfect visions, implanting it in and leaving the unhappy past behind, even though argues Dr Q, peoples’ remembered history tells their past values and they can choose to be whoever they want henceforth. Her argument is that he is playing God, by creating and choosing people’s memories for them and subsequently abusing his power by turning people into personal slaves.
There is a clever twist at the end, where we discover he is actually the scientist whose failed experiment was what caused the memory loss , sorry have I mentioned this is sci-fi … The songs were cute (adapted songs from like Michael Jackson’s “Beat It” when the the two groups fought for what is right, the love duet betwen Kim and Christopher, or Any Winehouses’s “Rehab” lyrics when one character was caught for an implant and refusing to succumb to the villain’s evil ways. An then of course, there was the character of Ling Chee Kang, who discovered he was a Kung Fu master with a murderous past, gave some pretty original Kung Fu moves like the twisted snake fist and drunken fists which were amusing.
Basically, the dialogue as my friends who were with me said, could be better and since it is a musical, they really should use better dancers although the costumes were creative and befitting ( leather and tights always do it for me anyway), and the moral of the story is good. I mean , in one of the dialogues they explain why people need to know their past. It isn’t the memories that they need but the values that they had will determine the choice in how they live their lives, now that they have seen a better way of living.
Overall , as Randy Jackson (American Idol judge would say), you know, you all look cute, great effort at attempting the First sci-fi musical in Malaysia, but it was just okay for me, dudes…!!

Organize your bag! Image from here
Hey dears ,
I was checking out some shopping sites and I came across this purse/bag organiser which is apparently “all the rage” in some countries. Personally ,I find it to be quite useful as I believe alot of us are lugging big bags and may have problems looking for small objects. I have problems locating my phone since my bag is full of small nessecities and stuff. Would you all kindly advise where to buy this in KL area? Shipping costs alot and it seems too extravagant to spend USD30+ to get it shipped. I’ve attached the picture of the organiser and provided the link to the website.http://www.purseneat.com/index.htm
Hope to hear from you all soon. Will be checking the emmagem.com site for updates.
Thanks=)
xoxo
Bag Organisers (Or Organizers in US English, lol) are smaller bags that you can put inside your bigger bags. It has many compartments and such to fit all your necessities in it. This may include, purse, camera, handphones, pens, tissue papers, make ups, mp3 players, sanitary pads and any other essentials that you usually transfer to different bags. We know how many bags we have to suit our daily fashion show *winks*. I seriously need one of these, I keep on losing my stuff in each bag i change!
We’ve all heard about phishing right, where you get emails from supposed respectable companies and banks asking you to update your data and they are really just hoax emails from scammers. I know, companies like even Paypal and HSBC bank have been used in the effort to con some unsuspecting users to divulge information and passwords in order to siphon out your money or worse steal your identity…worse case of life imitating art…
Now even SMSes are not spared , have you ever received one of those? Two days ago I received an SMS informing me that I won RM15,000 from Shell because my SIM card had been chosen in a lucky draw , which was curious. The call back number was a handphone number and had a guy with bad PR who refuses or was probably unable to verify himself and the “lucky” win although he did get the Shell HQ address right and hung up on me when pressed further. Well , I would have loved to win RM15,000 and as much as I believe in the Law of Attraction (now you know), something just didn’t click about the SMS and when all he wanted was to “fish ” for my personal info like full name etc. Subsequent checking later revealed the company name of Shell typed in the SMS was wrong ie it was typed as Syarikat Shell Sdn. Bhd. which is not their corporate name and that the return call is to a private handphone number…so beware… I lucked out on a fifteen grand “windfall” but gained wisdom ….
I digress of course, however internet security is a serious matter which we should all be aware of and take precautions against because the internet is a big part of our lives, at least if you are reading this it most probably is a major part of yours and I totally agree with Mr Schneier that criminals will go where the action (money) is.
Sp please read an excerpt of an interview by STAR with Bruce Schneier , world renowned internet technologist and in fact is known as a “security guru” according to “The Economist” for the internet world on how home users can improve their security.

Here’s what he says on some simple network hygiene practices, which I find to be quite basic and okay, workable and user friendly for me.
These are just some healthy network hygiene methods although not necessary foolproof and a case where prevention is better than cure I guess, so that your unfriendly neighborhood hacker don’t get to come in and mess with your personal info and stuffs.
Well, they did forwarn us that whilst technology can speed up our lives and make shopping from your couch easy and safe amongst other uses, it isn’t without some risk like everything else.So we have to be responsible to ensure that we are adequately protected. See it as precautions that you would take for your brick and mortar home. lols:-)
To read more about Bruce Schneier surf to www.schneier.com or get his books “Applied Cryptography” and his current book “Beyond Fear“.

The time has come. . . to vote for the most fashionista friendly toilet!:) We recieved some nominations on a post earlier. Thanks everyone for your input, now we’ll need everyone to start voting for the BEST toilet around Klang Valley’s shopping malls.
Criteria:
You can choose up to 2 venues. So here goes! Please choose wisely, lol.
by the way, just a quick question about toilet seats. . .(Since we’re already talking about toilets)
What do you think about people squatting on toilet seats? I know sometimes it is too dirty to actually sit on it, but I’ve seen even clean toilets get shoe marks on the seats! They do actually have proper squatting toilets available. It is quite annoying at times. I, have not mastered the art of squatting on the toilet seats (and probably never will!)! I really wonder how people do it. . . lol.
What are your thoughts?

MOFSD is updated as of today:) (If you have requested, but your link is not there, please contact us)

Anymore nominations? We want at least 5 before we start of the voting:)

So 8tv organized a Gossip Girl Party and we went! I was so excited, because I am a fan of Gossip Girl AND I get to dress up!:) It was held at Bakerzine at 1 Utama Shopping Center.
(I’m still thinking of whether or not to post my picture here, lols)
So anyway the invite said 1.45pm, we reached there at about 1.50 pm and got the worst seats
That’s for coming late! We looked around, and saw that not everyone dressed up New York Preppy, besides a few members of the media and a few other party goers.
We sat there for almost 45 minutes before they started the event. the event kicked off with a dance by a group of male dancers who danced to famous RnB songs. They were really good.
After that, the emcees announced the event schedule of the day and there was a fashion show, yay!
Designs were from our very own MOFSD shop owner cum designer, Button my Buttons by Shahida Shariff and also Project Runway designer, Nurita Harith.
Here are some images from Button my Buttons’ Fantasy collection:

I want to know I have story books to sell how do i go abou it?thanks
-Reen-
I want to sell my second hand clothes! HELP ME!
-Ling-

We’ve been getting this question a lot lately, so here’s some suggestions!:)
First of all, you can start a little second hand blogshop. All you have to do is observe how others have been doing at our MOFSD, and you too can start your own. Just remember to be honest in your description and tell them how used are the items. You wouldn’t want to cheat on customers like how these people were cheated. If you do not know how to start an online business, we will be giving you tips soon on how to start an online blog shop.
You can also try auction sites like, ebay.com.my, lelong.com.my, mudah.com.my to start auctioning off your books and old clothes. These are auction sites, which means you can start in a very low price and people will bid for your items.
Alternately, you can go to Selltrade KL where you can open a livejournal account and start selling your second hand clothes in that livejournal community. It is similar to any blogshops, just that this livejournal community is solely for secondhand sales and has been here before the mushrooming of online blog shops.
Other than that, try going for any of the shopaholics parties like the Fashionista Junkyard Sale or the Bijou Bazaar to open a shop to sell your items. There will be loads of people all willing to buy your treasures.

Hope that helps you!:)
Wherever you decide to sell, make sure that you list your shop at emmagem ![]()
Omg! We’ve been featured on Berita Harian! Click Click!
Thanks, Lisa for informing us. . . .
Uberlove e boutique too was featured!:) Yeay to online shopping!
Beli-belah guna ‘tetikus’
Oleh Fairuz Zaidan
fairuzaidan@bharian.com.my
Mudah bukan?
Itulah keseronokan online shopping.

I came across Envirosax way back when i was writing about environmental friendly bags last month. I thought, wow, these bags are really cute, way cuter than the ones we get from shopping malls.

To refresh your memory, here’s an excerpt:
Here are some reasons why you should stop taking plastic bags:
- It is estimated that 500 billion plastic bags are used and discarded worldwide every year.
- 1 million plastic bags are used and discarded worldwide every minute of the day.
- Single use plastic bags made of HDPE remain in the environment for up to approx. 1,000 years.
- Over 100,000 birds, whales, seals and turtles worldwide are killed by plastic rubbish every year.
Source: Envirosax, a company that sells eco friendly bags in AustraliaPlastic bags are non biodegradable and it is killing sea animals like these turtles in Malaysia.
Most of the major shopping malls in KL (like 1 Utama, Bangsar Village, Jusco etc.) has already adopted the eco-friendly bags in their stores.
So, try to reduce using plastic bags, take baby steps. . .
- If you’re at 7-11 for chewing gum and a bottle of water, carry the bottle in your hands and put the gum in your bag.
- If you’re shopping with a large enough bag, put your clothes in your bag and keep the receipt properly (you do not want to be questioned for shoplifting!)
- Most importantly, carry a eco-friendly bag with ya!
I believe if we all do this together, we will make a difference.
Admit it, I know some of you love those plastic bags from your favourite shops because it is so pretty! I’ve seen this lady in the Body Shop who asked for an extra plastic bag. What better way to carry your clothes/stuff in pretty but also reusable bags?

Envirosax is not only too pretty, it also serves as a fashionable reusable bag that are light weight and can be used repeatedly!

Envirosax is now available in Malaysia!:D
:D I want one!!
