E banking is a lifesaver! Isn’t it? Which e-bank do you prefer to do your online transactions??
I remember doing a HOW TO DO E-BANKING IN MALAYSIA post earlier and used Maybank2u as an example because I myself use Maybank2u like almost everyday to reload my credit, shop online and other transfers.
Well, just on Monday, Maybank2u (M2u in short) pre-launched their new “face” of M2u version 2!
M2u has been operating in Malaysia for so long and they were the first ever bank to go online. Yeay Maybank! I believe they were around for more than 8 years already. So, the team behind M2u thought that the website needed a change since the first one made a long time ago. And I think so too. The current older version of M2u is very cluttered and its like everything is everywhere lah. But, nevertheless, I still use it as it is convenient as hell. No lining up in banks (THANK GOD!) just to deposit money to someone for that awesome looking clutch you bought online.
So what’s new at the new version?
In case you forgot what the old M2u looks like here’s a screen shot:

This is the newer version:

What’s changed is definitely the whole layout of the website. From cluttered too many words homepage to a more classy black looking spaced out homepage with less words and more images. The front page also has shortcuts and tabs which makes things easier. The “HELP” section is also more visible on the new M2u. I remember having a crisis of transferring to the wrong account and omg, searching high and low on where to get help and who to call. Now everything is on the front homepage. Easy Peasy.
What I love is the Tabs of different areas of the bank that is relevant to us users. On the front page itself, there are links to the most frequently used featured at M2u. I bought something online just recently so I will show you how the new way of funds transfers work (Because, thats all that is important to us online shoppers anyways right?) (more…)
Reposting from July 16th’s post because, email spams are still coming to my inbox and other people’s inboxes! I have recieved MANY complaints.
TO ALL ONLINE SHOPS THAT STOLE EMAILS FROM OTHER PEOPLE’S SUBSCRIPTION, PLEASE LAH, STOP SENDING EMAILS CAN? COLLECT YOUR OWN SUBSCRIPTION.
ALSO, please use BCC to avoid showing emails to everyone else.
There are growing numbers of online shops now with mailing lists. They send their updates to their customers which are fine by anyone who has subscribed to their shop’s mailing list. For those who love updates, it is really a great tool.
What is worrying is that the emails come one after another sometimes a few times in a day. It gets worst when there are a few shops using the same mailing list emails because they just copied the emails from another blog shop’s mailing list. A few people has emailed us asking emmagem if we have sent out their emails to online shops. DISCLAIMER: EMMAGEM DO NOT SHARE ANYONE’S EMAILS FROM OUR SUBSCRIPTION. We like to keep them sacred as they are our readers :D. No, we do not do such things. If there’s any emails coming from us, it will be signed by either me or yetmee and with official emmagem emails like these- karenmarie@emmagem.com/yetmee@emmagem.com. So it is legitimate.
I understand, it gets quite annoying to see your inbox filled with emails from people whom you do not even subscribe to. What’s even worst is that when asked to be removed from the list, they do not reply the person. When you send emails out to people who are not interested, its called SPAMMING. Spamming is unacceptable because it is very annoying, lah! :/
How NOT to spam emails to shopaholics’ inboxes?
We hope that ALL blogshops who are sending mailing lists updates abide by these guides to avoid being called spams. You want to have a good impression to your customers!
To everyone being spammed, email the spammers and tell them that you want out, if not the emails will never stop coming.
Send your shop updates/mailing list to karenmarie@emmagem.com!
Yes, it is happening in Kuala Lumpur , 23rd August 2008 at 3pm (I read in the papers) at KL Sentral in front of Dunkin Donut… 6500 people have been invited to read simultaneously “while waiting” , and this will happen also across Singapore, Christchurch , Wellington , Sydney , Melbourne and Eindhoven . It is organised by the same group of KL Freeze project at Pavillion in June , you may have read in the papers about it or maybe you attended the event. Well, I love reading , am trying to sneak away from work to attend , see you there! Imagine the feeling of reading with so many people at the same time, WOW!
Reading is always such an individual activity and it is so novel to bring together and connecting people who are passionate about reading… and better yet encouraging in the new readers to participate in one of the most fulfilling activity around at least for my existence… Yep , even better than shopping … clothes “fills” you up on the outside, but reading can make you feel filled up inside and makes you feel really compact with all the information and knowledge and insights gleaned…and you can take on the world in all your finery!

We’ve all heard about phishing right, where you get emails from supposed respectable companies and banks asking you to update your data and they are really just hoax emails from scammers. I know, companies like even Paypal and HSBC bank have been used in the effort to con some unsuspecting users to divulge information and passwords in order to siphon out your money or worse steal your identity…worse case of life imitating art…
Now even SMSes are not spared , have you ever received one of those? Two days ago I received an SMS informing me that I won RM15,000 from Shell because my SIM card had been chosen in a lucky draw , which was curious. The call back number was a handphone number and had a guy with bad PR who refuses or was probably unable to verify himself and the “lucky” win although he did get the Shell HQ address right and hung up on me when pressed further. Well , I would have loved to win RM15,000 and as much as I believe in the Law of Attraction (now you know), something just didn’t click about the SMS and when all he wanted was to “fish ” for my personal info like full name etc. Subsequent checking later revealed the company name of Shell typed in the SMS was wrong ie it was typed as Syarikat Shell Sdn. Bhd. which is not their corporate name and that the return call is to a private handphone number…so beware… I lucked out on a fifteen grand “windfall” but gained wisdom ….
I digress of course, however internet security is a serious matter which we should all be aware of and take precautions against because the internet is a big part of our lives, at least if you are reading this it most probably is a major part of yours and I totally agree with Mr Schneier that criminals will go where the action (money) is.
Sp please read an excerpt of an interview by STAR with Bruce Schneier , world renowned internet technologist and in fact is known as a “security guru” according to “The Economist” for the internet world on how home users can improve their security.

Here’s what he says on some simple network hygiene practices, which I find to be quite basic and okay, workable and user friendly for me.
These are just some healthy network hygiene methods although not necessary foolproof and a case where prevention is better than cure I guess, so that your unfriendly neighborhood hacker don’t get to come in and mess with your personal info and stuffs.
Well, they did forwarn us that whilst technology can speed up our lives and make shopping from your couch easy and safe amongst other uses, it isn’t without some risk like everything else.So we have to be responsible to ensure that we are adequately protected. See it as precautions that you would take for your brick and mortar home. lols:-)
To read more about Bruce Schneier surf to www.schneier.com or get his books “Applied Cryptography” and his current book “Beyond Fear“.

Lets ‘face’ it. Facebook has been taking over Malaysian internet users away from Friendster, slowly but surely. We cannot deny its popularity, and its functionality. But what many of us don’t know is how much our personal information is being passed around like a peace pipe in tribal ceremony.
Since the advent of Facebook Apps, countless coders have rushed in to create applications for Facebook users, ranging from the ridiculously redundant, to the universally usable. Stop and think why these people take the time to create those applications in the first place? Facebook is not paying them. Here’s the reason:
The creators of the applications will gain access to the information of their users, and their user’s friends. See full story here.
Do you actually read the terms that you are forced to agree with in order to add pretty much any application? Perhaps you should. I know a few who adds applications to their profiles like there is no tomorrow. That would mean that they are, in a way, exposed to many hungry info-mongers out there. I personally add only those that I truly enjoy, and find handy.
So what is the potential harm? What is the worst that could possibly happen? That remains to be seen. Facebook has a team of people doing everything they can to stop fraud, fake accounts, spam, and other pesky things. Not only that, you have a myriad of privacy options available for you to tweak as much you like. I recommend you pay a visit to that page soon, the link is at the top right corner.
Not only should you be weary of your privacy, you should be careful of your own actions! If you joined to many groups or have too many friends, the Facebook police will arrest you and lock you up for good. To see what other things that could get your account disabled, go here.
Speaking of dangers in Facebook, lets not forget how excessive usage could cost you your productivity. Whether you’re a student or in an office, resist the temptation of ‘facebooking’ too many times in a single day! Here’s a suggestion to help you reduce usage: if you have it bookmarked, remove it.
I shall conclude by saying: don’t take your freedoms for granted. There is a price for everything. The people who created and developed Facebook are not necessarily evil, but its users can be. Go on, remove the applications you can do without. Heck, go outside and smell the fresh air.

Komen Laptop Bags from Mobile Edge
hey,i wonder where else to get a stylish, practical and affordable/cheap laptop bag aside from gin&Jacqie
Avid
Hey!
We’re afraid laptop bags are not cheap, if not then it would not serve its purpose as a laptop bag, would it? Laptop bags need to be sturdy and it has to protect the laptop most importantly. Most that we’ve seen are at least above RM100. So far, really, the cheapest we’ve seen is still Gin&Jacqie. Unless someone else (READ: Readers of emmagem!) has seen any other cheaper version!
Get a bag with bold colours instead, if you cannot find a stylish bag. . .
Here are some suggestions. . . (more…)
Shhhhh…..
We found a great Singapore-based website, Fabrix Cases that customizes awesome macbook sleeves, ipod cases and camera cases(for Sony Cybershot T Series)! We can now be all unique (I’ve seen too many laptop sleeves from Gin&Jacqie in my uni!)
Although they make them ready made for only ipod stuff, but you can always customize it to the size of your laptop/notebook and your phones or even cameras!:)

We just love stripes, florals, polka dots - it just makes our gadgets prettier than it already is, doesn’t it? (more…)

DragonHeart123: I was wondering if you wanna be my gf?
BlossomGirl: Errr..maybe? Yeah why not. x)
DragonHeart123: Wanna meet up?
BlossomGirl: Sure. Where and when?

Some of us may relate to the conversation above while some of us may scoff at the mere idea of agreeing to an online relationship. While it was unconventional before, online relationships are very much part of reality today. If you type the words ?°internet love?± on Google search just like I did, you would be pretty overwhelmed by the amount of internet dating services and chatrooms that boast many successful internet love stories all around the world.
I remember back in the days when mIRC was the IT thing, once in a while, I would play a prank on any random chatter by pretending to be someone of a different identity. And because instant messaging is a non face-to-face form of communication (excluding webcam-ing), everyone can be anyone. Then it occurred to me, if I could pretend to be someone else, then the strangers chatting with me could also turn out to not be who they claimed to be. Minor Internet pranks like these may be harmless but for some unlucky ones, they can turn into something traumatizing.
