Question: Almost edible earrings! - Polymer Clay Accessories

Oct 26, 2008 Author: karenmarie | Filed under: Fashion, Question

Hi,

Can you tell me where i can find those little dessert accessories? like cakes, ice-cream and donut earrings and necklaces?

I’ve been looking all over for it and can’t seem to find the site.

Really need to know!

Thanks!

Lavlav

Hey Lavlav!

Dessert accessories are usually made of clay. The designers actually mould them from normal colored clay and then, they can be found at etsy. Etsy is a handmade online shops by little traders worldwide. Most of them shop worldwide, and they’re mostly in USD :)

This candy Ring is USD 7.50 + USD3 for shipping internationally.

Heyy there! I’ve been doing some online shopping through emmagem and it’s really great. You guys have all kinds of fashion tips and where to find stuff. That’s real cool. By the way, I’m currently looking for some plain coloured mini skirts. Preferrably black ones. Not too expensive but affordable. Like around RM 20 - RM 30? Or maybe skirts on sales? Oh yea preferrably pencil skirts.

Thanks! (:

Linda

Hey Linda!

Thanks for the feedback on emmagem :) I’m not sure if you want miniskirts or any other skirts. But, we found a pencil skirt being sold as a pre-order thing from Branded Items Spree. It is RM76 from this brand called Stradivarius, a Spanish brand.

My first experience: I won a bid on an auction at SellTrade_KL in 2005. I bought bags, lipsticks and clothes. It was simple, bid and the highest bid got the things. Everyone was so excited to sell and buy. There were many Auctions going on in SellTrade_KL at the opening few posts. It was a bidding frenzy, omg. But so exciting, we finally get to do online shopping! I was damn excited when my first parcel arrived. Although, I did COD a couple of times during my first few experience of an online trade. Props to J, Sasha, Ena and Lynnfunkstar for starting a really awesome community to Sell and Trade.

How many of you were SellTrade_KL members at Livejournal since they first started? holla at me!!

I remember compiling online shopping sites way back in January 2007 (Article title: Malaysian Online Shopping Sites). Man were there SO little online shops in Malaysia at that time. Mostly those Ebay things.  I was actually damn excited that I found a few online shops and was so eager to try online shopping, since I saw how famous it was overseas.

Then I went nostalgic and searched emmagem’s archives. I found this article wrote by Miss Vintage aka Xuezhen about Online Shopping vs Real Life Shopping way back in August 2007. HAHA, It was back then when there were not any online blogshops in Malaysia and we all bought online through ebay or SellTrade_KL. Owh, I think Shopaholics Unite too was online selling since then!

Fast forward to 2008, now and you see a boom in online shopping sites growing everyday like mushroom after the rain(I think there was a BM proverb like that! haha). Everyone sells online now. A new avenue of business for people. More and more people are going online, more and more people are trusting the “online shopping experience”. It is so nice seeing how the online shopping industry in Malaysia grow in front of my eyes and I was here to document every moment of it.

Ok so the point of this post is for you and I to share our first ever exprience of online shopping here in Malaysia.

When did you first start to shop online and where and what did you buy? Spill!!!

Was it ebay? Was it selltrade like myself? Did you start online shopping when these blog shops started?

Autumn Winter Must Have - Leopard Print

Oct 23, 2008 Author: yetmee | Filed under: Fashion

Okay , you might as well hear it from me…leopard printed anything ( the real thing could land you in jail, by the way), on faux fur ,on  silk , on PVC , as a bag ,as shoes, as a blouse or dress, hairband , headband, scarf . pillow case , anything goes babe!!

Yesss! Long live the leopard print! I am a fan…let me say it again…I am a fan … I have been collecting bags and shoes , especially shoes  , printed on horse hair, on PVC , you name it…My latest joy, a pair of stilletoes from GUESS at 75% discount!!

But I have always been a bit careful with  clothing, because they can get kind of tacky like Fran from “The Nanny” TV series, especially if one  is not careful with the makeup and outfit combination.  But what the hey, think Amy Winehouse, her eccentric style and hairstyle was embraced by haute designer Christian Dior in the  Autumn Winter 2008 collection, even though her lifestyle leaves much to  be desired. Roberto Cavalli has always had a piece or two tuck away in his collection.

Wearing animal print especially leopard  has always added a touch of risque to one’s outfit … you got to wear it with a bit of attitude albeit nonchalant one. A must have piece to jazz up the darkness of autumn winter and you will continue to see it popping up in one form or another  next Spring Summer , see Louis Vuitton runway accessories. It will be an investment worth spending.

Best way to wear it is , with something red or black. Wear only one piece of leopard, no need to match shoes and bag for instance , that is definitely overkill in my humble opinion. Make sure you wear it as a statement piece. And the prints  can come in various colours, not just black and brownish yellow anymore.

If you are in your:

20s - wear it playfully as a babydill dress or a sexy top .

30s - wear it as an elegant  top with slim skirt, as a nice sheath dress with tights or just pair it with dark denims.

.

40s- look elegant in a fitted one piece or wrapped leopard printed dress and definitely stilletoes.

Hey’al, meet our new guest writer, cherrypop!!Here’s how she describes herself :

“…A mid-twenties KL-lite with a passion for writing who loves shopping just as much as any regular girl (and sometimes more!). An avid magazine lover who buys just about every title locally and internationally, she writes for magazines for a living and will never say no to ice-cream bribes or Wentworth Miller (Brad Pitt too). Often, she can be found lurking around online shopping sites, in Bangsar boutiques, or pursuing the latest movie. Fall prep done the Hilfiger way

Oct 22, 2008 Author: Cherrypop | Filed under: Designers, Fashion

There’s no other quite like Tommy Hilfiger when he churns out his collection to hit the runways. Never afraid to play with the signature Americana look that fans of his label have grown to love, the designer was inspired by democratic New York this fall 2008 and this is apparent in the three different looks he masterminded - Hudson Getaway, American Vision and Photorealism.

In Hudson Getaway, the romance of the city that never sleeps is captured with elegance in the form of fluid lines. Fabrics like cashmere, wool and cotton come to life in the form of a neutral palette of beige, brown and grey. What is admirable about Tommy Hilfiger is that his lines never fail to be wearable and simple enough to be carried off by the fashionable woman at the workplace or on casual weekends. Items like the sheer pussy-bow blouse in a discreet plaid pattern matched with a red and black tiny check skirt is lightweight enough without sacrificing style and the mismatched pattern in this ensemble works well without clashing. MOFSD Items of the Day - 22/10

Oct 22, 2008 Author: karenmarie | Filed under: Fashion, MOFSD Items of the day

www.mofsd.com

Today’s pick would be the all the shops owned by the owners of trendy confessions, the Jiar sisters (Trina and Trudy)! :) When I first saw trendy confessions, I immediately fell in love. Not only do they cater to women of all sizes, they also have a kickass layout, and great service.

The design of the layout is really important in an online fashion store (well besides the clothes), because people will get a first impression of how the shop’s going to be like. It shows how much effort online shop owners put into their shops and how passionate they are about their online shop.

They’re not just there to get a few quick bucks from you, they actually style their clothes well, take good photographs, explain everything to the very detail and give excellent service. Well imho, Trendy Confessions (Some other Online shops too, not to worry, I’ll feature all the awesome shops here at emmagem!) has all that.

Perfect Cardigan, RM46

Under Trendy Confessions, there are also:

Just Bag it, a bag shop created specially for all you bag lovers out there.

The ever so wanted Bag Organizer, which we discussed about earlier this month, is now available at Just Bag It, RM30.

Twin Zipped bag in Tan, RM70

Dress Vintage, the vintage fad has bitten Trendy Confessions too, and hence a vintage dresses shop

Vintage, RM40

The Fashionistas, a preloved site which has now introduced a hand made headband :)

Lace Headband for all you Blair Waldrof fans, RM7

Sparkle Me Gold

Oct 21, 2008 Author: Sharyl | Filed under: Boutique, Fashion, KL in the RAW, Shop Online, Shopping

Say hi to FM!  I truly believe that it’s not only during the festive seasons that we could wear our own traditional clothes.

Let’s just say, if you want to stand out, to be different from others, this could be the very thing that allows you to do just that!

The cheongsam was from a shop called Oriental, Sunway Pyramid. The clutch is from Bangkok. And the shoes, is from the online boutique, Shopaholics Unite! I instantly recognized the shoes, well, because I bought one too! What can I say, I’m a stiletto addict!

One thing about being a Malaysian is that you are able to wear other culture’s traditional clothes. For instance, if you are a Chinese, does not mean you cannot wear baju kebaya or a sari. Or vice versa. Sometimes, I see many Chinese wearing the Malay traditional clothes  often for events. That’s one of the beauty of being a Malaysian of course.

Question: Designer Clothes for less

Oct 21, 2008 Author: karenmarie | Filed under: Fashion, Question

Does anyone know any shops like EYECANDY in atria shopping centre which sells discounted designer dresses? Like chloe, BCBG and such. Please don’t say MO group in shamelin perkasa, too pricey. :( Need dress for prom.

sophia

Hey Sophia,

Designer dresses are generally pricey if you want a brand spanking new dress. Because of course, you’re paying for the intricate detailing of the dress, which are probably hand sewn, or you know, their raw materials are expansive. So it would be quite hard to buy a designer items for less.

Besides that shop at Atria that you mentioned(I’ve never been there,so I’m not sure), I think Sew & Soul sell designer inspired clothes such as Diane Von Furstenberg, Catherine Malandrino, Marc Jacobs, Chloe, Cacharel, and many more. Their items are mostly imported from overseas and they do sell many evening gowns suitable for proms:) Here’s a dress from Sew & Soul.

♥ Body Twirling Shinny Silver Beads Black Evening Dress  MYR 2699.00 MYR 1079.60

Another shop that specializes in Evening Wear is Tres Chic in Bangsar also. They have ALOT of evening dresses that are suitable fro proms. Prices are ranging from RM200 and above. Read emmagem’s review on the shop. (more…)
