When it comes to wearing shorts, how high should one aspire? I mean I am a new convert to wearing shorts to work. Altho I must admit that I err on the side of nun- like modesty since my two favorite pairs are just about 1-2 inches slightly above knees. Both black in colour and one has cuffs which according to some fashion experts give it a twist of formality and the other is just straight and very flattering. I wear it mostly for casual dining on girls night out and yeah, even on a date and for work sometimes, I team them up with short and long jackets.
But I would like to know some opinions about an article I read in the STAR metro on sunday ( 4th may 2008) about suitability of wearing shorts to work . The ones that they refer to as “shorts” are about 3 inches from the butt down and a good 6-7 inches from the knees and it is recommended that if in industries that allows for self expression and creativity, a pair of shorts in tweed or wool , with cuffs or without , it is okay . I am not quite sure about that , what do you think? I am dying to show off more of my legs in the boardroom, after I tone ‘em and give ‘em a good shave ( and no , you do not smell sourgrapes here) lols:-).

I’ve caught spring fever , I can’t deny it… and I have been gradually updating my spring wardrobe with a couple of key pieces, bearing in mind my budget, I have also been recycling past season pieces to mix and match the look. I mean a girl has gotta look good but let’s not forget social and familial responsibility here. Also I believe fashion is really about imagination and not just free spending. I have to say being a very black and white person in terms of my wardrobe has color blinded me somewhat all these years and I realized that I never have any floral prints in my wardrobe. But I am so sold on the liberty prints florals and all the artistic multi-hued soft and very busy florals in soft , soft chiffon or silk that I see in the shops these days. Brands like Zara and Dorothy Perkins and Miss Selfridges. MNG have gone over the top with some really fine pieces. Tastefully feminine without being OTT (over the top) me-wanna gag sweetness. It comes across more artistic like artworks by the likes of Van Gogh’s lighter pieces. If you don’t like small prints , try bold statement flora and fauna , still works.
Then there is the safari look , match em with some gladiator sandals or pseudo gladiator sandals , saw a really cool pair from Nine West and I believe Top Shop should have some really cool ankle height ones. Shirt dresses in khaki/ any browns and greens with epaulets and pockets or wrap around are just some of my favorite and I believe it si quite a classy and classic ensemble. You can wear this look for ages to come even after the season is over. Beige and nude and any neutral shades like ecru is so a must have. Make sure you accessories with some heavy gold or wood bangles so you don’t look wash out.
Then there is the long unstructured jacket /throw over in any form styled like a wind breaker , like a long cardigan . It is so cool to pull over a knee length dress, great for work and evenings to hang out in. Showing skin is nice in the evening but when you throw something like that over a slinky dress , it just shouts attitude and self confidence.
This season’s accessories, belts for the safari look and tall , very tall shoes. Sandals and canvas and canvas or raffia wedges must have. Spring to a great start…..

Komen Laptop Bags from Mobile Edge
hey,i wonder where else to get a stylish, practical and affordable/cheap laptop bag aside from gin&Jacqie
Avid
Hey!
We’re afraid laptop bags are not cheap, if not then it would not serve its purpose as a laptop bag, would it? Laptop bags need to be sturdy and it has to protect the laptop most importantly. Most that we’ve seen are at least above RM100. So far, really, the cheapest we’ve seen is still Gin&Jacqie. Unless someone else (READ: Readers of emmagem!) has seen any other cheaper version!
Get a bag with bold colours instead, if you cannot find a stylish bag. . .
Here are some suggestions. . . (more…)

We found this interesting bracelet online. It seems like it is the “SOUTH NEWEST FASHION KNOTTED BRACELETS” according to the etsy bracelet designer of Lepearl Designs. I reckon its a newest trend in the south of US:)
It reminds me of those good ol’ friendship bracelets we use to make when we were in high school!

Remember that strings we used to buy and whenever there’s a free period, we all took it out from our desks and start to make it. We make ones with beautiful designs and give it to our crushes secretly or just a friend. Those were the days!

I have been trying my very best to stop taking plastic bags from shops (Carrying a HUGE bag helps too!). You should try it. It is a simple way of helping mother earth. Think about how much plastic you take every time you go for a shopping spree day. . . All that plastic bag usage can be reduced if we had an alternative eco-friendly bag instead!
It was a fad when Anya Hindmarch launched her recycling bag “I am not a plastic bag”. For a moment there, everyone was carrying an eco-friendly bag (well, most of them for the wrong reasons). But, still, the idea is to stop using plastic bags. Here are some reasons why you should stop taking plastic bags: (more…)
