Absolute Bazaar - 3K Inn, Subang Jaya. It was a massive bazaar with so many people. There were about 40-50 vendors and mostly were on their first offline sales. The hotel hall was fully air-conditioned. However, it became rather stuffy as the crowd came in full forced. There was a long line of girls wanting to try on their picks before purchasing the items in the hall itself. Even parking became difficult along the main road that shoppers had to make a few rounds before finding a spot. The organizers underestimated the amount of crowd that came that day.

Massive crowd at 3K Inn
Pick&Grab - Hartamas Square, KL. This bazaar was a cozy one. With over 30 over shops selling at a very intimate spot at Hartamas Square made it look like a real bazaar, brushing people’s shoulders just to get to what you want to buy. It was raining on the second day, but that didn’t stop shoppers from going to the bazaar. As a writer from emmagem.com , I too braced the rain to get to the bazaar. Loads of Maxi dresses were seen in this bazaar with friendly traders selling them:) Actually, for that space, there were SO many clothes. lols.

Sunday Sundaes - 3rd Mile Square, KL. All over the other side of KL, was another bazaar organized by Chics Closet. According to the organizers, the crowd were getting to know the idea of bazaars as it was a new area that they are tapping. With 90’s pop nostalgic music filling the air, shopping at this bazaar was a breeze with loads of fresh air and friendly people all over. This bazaar even had a kid’s play section for the little ones and christmas tree to set the mood for the coming season. Sunday Sundaes will be held every sunday from Nov 2nd till the end of December.

Soul Chic was also seen at the second bazaar. (Pic courtesy of Chics Closet)
One of the biggest comebacks for fall in the form of beauty for your feet is the pump heel. Also known as court shoes, it was most widely seen on the feet of well-heeled women of the 80s in their power suits, gigantic shoulder pads and large plastic earrings. Thankfully, the modern pump has evolved into a shoe that is a far cry from the pointed toe structure that pairs from the 80s bore, instead embracing chunky heels which are better for walking, a more rounded toe and beautifully-sculpted heels.
Heels from Christian Dior’s runway were in the form of sling backs in a myriad of colours, including a vibrant fuchsia with a black tip. Comfort is key with a cut like this and it is a great colour for the workplace if your office is more conservative and if the rest of your wardrobe consists of neutral shades. Topshop offers great, more affordable versions in shiny kelly green and purple suede with scalloping at the heel. (more…)
Monday morning riddle: What does Napoleon Bonaparte and “Pretty Woman” have in common, you ask? I’d say, a whole lot of skin , in the form of patent leather boots or patent looking latex boots! Yes, patent leather is way up there along with S&M outfits, crossing all social barriers!
(pix courtsey of www.download-free-pictures.com and www.starpulse.com)
Patent leather is a glossy high shine leather that has been given a treatment like rubber coating or when it first was manufactured, linseed oil based lacquer coating, way back in 1819. Patent leather then was usually used for formal wear like military boots and for a more “uptown” appearance due to its mirror like effect. It was also considered a premium item as the process involved is meant to give the fine leather a durable and smarter look. (more…)

Butterfly is selling her second hand Black dress with awesome cut out back for RM50. Originally from Dainty Dresser.

where can i find a maxi dress that can be worn anytime anywhere? i actually need it for my graduation dinner. im the type who wears jeans n tees so this time i wanna wear something different.. can u help me? need it ASAP.
Nur
I want to buy and wear a maxi, but afraid people will look weirdly at me.
Jeebs
Maxi’s come in many types. Some are satin which look more formal, some are cotton that are super thin that can be worn anywhere here in Malaysia. Sometimes I wonder how do people wear maxi in Malaysia when it is always so hot and humid. But I soon realize that there are some kind of maxi’s that are thin enough to be worn here. Of course, you can always wear those satin ones for a night out (with air cond, of course).
As for graduation, maybe you might need something formal, and not so casual. Maybe something satin-ey?
Here are some that we found:

Something different from French Kiss, RM68. This Maxi has a different style to it than the normal halter, tube kind. (more…)

So Halloween was on last Friday, I’m sure many of you had major parties to attend to. Jolene Lai, from www.jayelleenelial.com attended the Nuffnang’s Nokie Silent Halloween party. Of course anyone could guess what her outfit is, the Kinky Joker Nurse! When one is wearing a costume, there is only one rule for it, exaggerate!
Like Jolene had said “Because Halloween is a perfectly legit reason for girls to go all out slutty without being called one.” I couldn’t agree more! And she won the runner up prize for the best dressed outfit in the female category! Need I say more?
Let’s do a breakdown on where she gotten her outfit from. Her white top and cap is from Ebay, by the seller of CK Beauty. The wig is from Popcornmushroom.multiply.com, RM 75. The skirt is from a night market in Penang, RM 17. Stockings are from Soxworld in Queensbay, Penang, only for RM 30. The patent pink flat pumps are from Far East Plaza, Singapore which cost SGD19. And of course, not to forget the stethoscope! It’s from Medical Instruments Supply store in SS15, Subang Jaya for RM150. She’s a dental student, so that’s why she had a real stethoscope and not the fake ones.
But the outfit is only playing 60% part of the image she was trying to create. She then drew a very much exaggerated joker makeup to finish up the whole costume. Even by a far it’s obvious it’s the joker face she was creating.
Here are the makeup items she used to create the joker look. It consists of Face Powder (RM 7), Lipstick, two shades of red (RM 14), Eyeliner (RM 7), and Mascara (RM 6) from Chameleon. The mascara was smeared around the eyes slightly above the black eye shadow. The black and dark brown eye shadow is from Elianto, only for RM 5 each.
So there is no need for expensive makeup products to create a look that would only last for a night. These products that do not burn a hole in your wallet are still able to allow to create any look you want! Get your artistic talent out and the key is to be creative!
The silhouette of BCBG Max Azria’s fall collection is easy-to-wear and fluid for girls on the go ,looking for the perfect party dress for all those Christmas functions she has to attend, or for the career-conscious woman wanting to add mix-and-match separates to her work wardrobe..
Several trends can be noted in the pieces that show off a sense of authority and are perfect for the workplace. Slouchy pants lend structure and the fluid line makes one look taller and adds length to the leg. It is also perfectly comfortable and great for body types where heavy legs and wider hips are of concern. Best on lankier frames to carry off the length in the pants, we all know it can easily be dressed up with a sexy lace camisole for a date! The simple brown puff-shoulder top cinched with a belt is a safe way to play dress up in the boardroom if you throw a jacket over it. (more…)

emmagem.com , met up with the Penny Yuen recently and over a cup of coffee ,got to know this talented graphic designer and “eco- warrior alter ego”. Well, Penny would not be your ideal image of a “warrior , because she is very petite. But whoever said that heroism is measured by one’s physical size obviously forget, that it is the fighting spirit that counts!
Known for her alter ego eco warrior ,Pokok ,a soft toy, http://www.ecowarriorpokok.blogspot.com/, Penny takes on the role of story teller, talking and educating people about Pokok’s cause in saving the environment.
Pokok, Sherlock Holmes of a teddy bear , started his “career” by investigating the harm done to turtles due to pollution and use of plastic bags after hearing about their plight from Mr Loh, Director of Malaysian Nature’s Society. The first investigation into the turtle family’s desctruction was told with the unfinished turtles’ bodies in various states of decomposition at The Recylist’s “No Plastic Concert” in July 2008. Penny told of Pokok’s anger againts humans and his criminal investigation into their role in the destruction of the environment! She told the story with Pokok at the makeshift graveyard for the turtles with polystyrene lunch boxes as coffins!!(see pix above). Her funniest moment was when ‘the green family ” knelt to pay their respects . (more…)
Hi!!! i’m wondering is there any tips and tricks to trim eyebrows? i never trimmed them in my entire life and they look horrible! is there any shapes suitable for small eyes?
or any recommended shops to go to in Klang Valley?
THANKS ALOT!
xoxovonne
Hey Vonne!
I think, you should NOT try it yourself, because you might like you know, shape it wrongly. Try to go to a beauty salon to do it for you
Whenever anyone talks about eyebrow shaping, there’s only one place that will be mentioned, and that is Bangsar’s beauty salons. There are a few around Jalan Telawi areas. They do threading, waxing, shaving and etc.
Some addresses of Bangsar Salons that we found online. Try just heading to Bangsar for a walk (and shop!) and inquire in the salons to find out what it is like and the pricing. But usually, they are around RM5-RM10 for threading.

Masquerade Mask by Evon T
Hey,
Since I do not live in Penang, I’m really not sure if there are any costume shops in Penang. But, if you’ve searched emmagem’s archives, we answered this question before and featured a mask designer called Evon T. She’s a mask designer who has been designing awesome masks. Her masks are 100% handmade and can be custom made too
Price ranges from RM40 - RM60. Contact her through her email if you want more information.
Since you need it in a hurry, maybe you can try contacting her to express courier it to you before your prom.
Other than that, Queensbay Mall in Penang held a Halloween costume recently. If they had a costume competition, i’m sure they have a costume shop there and maybe there are masks there? I’m not sure about that as the website does not state any costume shops available.
Why not DIY your own mask? But it would take a lot of work.
So anyone else can help?
hi emmagem!
do you know where i can buy feather boas in bulk?
thanks ya!
nelly
FYI: Feather Boas are those long scarf that is made mostly out of ostrich fur. They do make them from other fur too, but mainly, it is made out of ostrich fur. They look something like this:

Feather Boas from Buycostumes.com
These are usually found in some clothing store and also in most costumes shops as they are so theatrical and awesomely loud when worn.
So far, I haven’t come across any shop in Malaysia that would supply them in bulk unless you managed to find a supplier of feather boas.
Does anybody else knows where to get Feather boas in bulk?
Alternately, you can get them from Ebay from overseas traders or suppliers from China that listed their shops at Alibaba.com.
Hope you managed to find them!
