O n eve of Hari Raya feeling abit of holiday mood, and my body telling me that I need some kind of a break, I headed off to the two month old Aster Spring Spa at Bandar Puteri Puchong. Located just across the street from Giant mall, it is easily locatable although parking is a bit of a challenge (maybe it was the eve if Hari Raya and last minute shoppers were abound).
The spa located at the ground floor of a shophouse, is wired throughout with a deionizer that ensures that negative ion is constantly neutralised. Spending a couple of hours for treatment here is equivalent to spending a few days on top of a mountain worth of clean fresh air.
So, what’s so special about Aster Spring Spas? Having undergone a rebranding exercise that sees the Dermalogica brand undergo a transformation from being just a skin care specialist to a holistic spa but still using Dermalogica products for their face and body treatments, the spa also boasts of a detox treatment that is quick and effective called ORP Treatment. In fact 20 minutes in the giant urn, which makes one feel like a robber in Ali Baba, one can burn 600 calories which sure beats 45 minutes of tortuos cycling to burn 900 calories. After 20 minutes of intense heat, one is let out, but the heartbeat is up just like one had run a 100m sprint. This is great metabolic burn. The sweating is intense and acts as a detox program. Sometimes the heat can cause sweatstains that are oily like mine did, which I attributed to the pizza the night before, which shows that some cleansing in the system had occured.
After a brief cool down, one is taken in to the facial room, where the facialist analysed my skin which she had earlier disgnosed as slightly dehydrated from te face mapping procedure earlier on and proceeded to give me a hydration facial. Meanwhile, I also received a scrub treatment for my hand and tummy that made my skin feel ultra soft. But ticklish lil’ ol’ me found being attended simultaneous, a tad too much and had to choke back some giggles which caused some concern caused they thought I was gagging from my increased heartbeat which was still beating fast about 10 minutes later, yeah burn baby burn!
About 2 hours later I was all done…intensely relaxed (I hope I did not snore) and was shown the play counter where I could experiment with the various products under their umbrella. I felt hydrated , detoxed and relaxed. So after the initial harrowing experience with the parking I must say it was worth it. The staff there is attentive and gives good advise about how to take of one’s skin.
