Is Cougar Dating The New Trend?
By: elise
Is cougar dating a new trend? The way that Hollywood seems to portray it, it certainly would seem so! Celebs like Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher or Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey have one thing in common – both the guys are married to older women. Even shows like Cougar Town and Sex In The City make it seem like women these days seem to prefer going for younger men.
But is there really any truth in that? After asking around people I know what they think of the whole concept of dating a younger man or dating an older woman, the consensus seemed to be that while most people still preferred the traditional – which is to day dating older men or men that are the same age as them – some girls were in fact open to the idea of dating a younger man. And the same thing goes for the guys. While most of them still prefer the traditional, you can find the occasional exception that wouldn’t mind dating women who are older than they are.

For those who were opened to the idea of dating someone older than they are, they said that age was just a number, and I guess to a certain extent they are right. After all, what matters more is whether you are compatible with the person and how you two get along. Nothing wrong with dating an older guy if he is mature and happens to be a really nice person right? If everything seems to fit and the two of you really do compliment each other well, then should age really be such a huge factor in the equation?

I do know of some couples who happen to be in relationships with younger men and they seem perfectly happy together and get along really well. Maybe they’re right and age really is just a number, and what does matter more in fact is whether the person is right for you. People can find love at any age and with anyone these days that you would be amazed, and at the end of the day, I suppose it is really about what you want. If you don’t mind dating a younger man, then by all means go ahead and do it, who cares what anyone else thinks. You are the one in the relationship, not them and as long as you are happy, that is all that should matter.
