Fashion industry has changed a lot from what it was, well maybe 10 years ago. Some might say it gets crazier, edgier or riskier in a way that a lot of things within this industry have been pushed a little too forward and it gets to the point when they fall somewhere between the border of being innovative and way too over the top. Think heel-less shoes, men in leather legging, gapped-tooth supermodels and Taylor Momsen for Dior.

But one group of people that have been enjoying this whole fashion world make-over is definitely the male models. Gone are the days when male models were just simply part of the props for photo shoots or when they were required to be on set simply to play the role of boyfriends, husbands or friends in a group shot.

Male models are now making big bucks and headlining a lot of major ad campaigns by well-known designers. And we are not only talking only about menswear here because these new breed of fabulous male models are also being featured in womenswear ad campaigns every season. Some even managed to steal the spotlight from their fellow female counterparts.

Let’s look at the current Top 5 male models of the moment and their campaign highlights:

5. Lars Burmiester (Ford Models)

This Sonneberg, Germany native has been headlining Hugo Boss campaign for six seasons straight alongside Toni Garrn. With his perfectly sculptered jaw, Lars is also the face of Acqua DiGio Perfume, FCUK and Gant clothing.

4. Simon Nessman (Ford Model)

Unbelieveably good looking, Simon has posed for Givenchy, Nicole Farhi and D&G among other names. This Canadian kick-started his career when a friend’s sister send his photo to a modelling agency. Thank God for that becasue fashion world wouldn’t be the same without those pursed lips!

3. Jamie Dornan (Select)

Once dated the actress Keira Knightley, Jamie is still one of the top male models around with his recurring role in Calvin Klein jeans campaign shot by Steven Klein. This Irish lad is known for his rugged bad boy look and stunning blue eyes. Other than Calvin Klein, Jamie has also been featured in Aquascutum and Armani campaign as well as the feature film Marie Antoinette alongside Kirsten Dunst.

2. Sean O’pry (VNY)

Sean O’Pry was actually discovered by the early America’s Next Top Model judge, Nole Marin through Myspace. Just look at where Sean is now. Forbes magazine named him The Most Successful Model in 2009. Headlining campaigns like Lacoste, Calvin Klein, Bottega Veneta and Emporio Armani; looks like there’s nowhere to go but further up for this American hunk.

1. Baptiste Giabiconi (DNA Models)

Handpicked by Karl Lagerfeld to become his muse, Baptiste is the definition of perfection according to Karl as he has skinny-athletic body which looks good with or without clothes on. This French export has starred in campaigns by Fendi, Armani, Just Cavalli, Frankie Morrello and of course KL by Karl Lagerfeld and Chanel.
