Risk Takers at The Emmy
By: hannefThe 62nd Emmy Awards took place last week in celebration of television’s greatest moments and unmistakable talents throughout the year 2010. Being one of the most anticipated events every year, Emmy Awards never failed to deliver and the most interesting part of the event will have to be the red-carpet walk down.
The stars shine in the latest season’s collections and custom made pieces specifically designed for the event. It’s all about making heads turn and making it to the best-dressed list on the next day’s newspaper. As for the ‘other list’, these stars can only hope for the best because fashion critics are mean and at times too hard to please.
Just like Joan Rivers with her sharp witty comments trashing the stars who according to her ‘got it wrong’ even though they are in the latest season’s Alexander McQueen and Yves Saint Laurent. But Joan Rivers doesn’t make the rules on the red-carpet nor does she decides what looks great or less-than perfect on these Hollywood’s biggest names. Who needs to listen to fashion critics with a face tighter than Kim Kardashian’s Herve Leger dress anyway?!
We here at Emmagem appreciates fearless fashion risk-takers on the red-carpet because safe is just plain boring. We’re still waiting until someone finally wear Hussein Chalayan’s creations on the red-carpet. But until that moment finally arrives, we do have Anna Paquin in her Alexander McQueen.
Anna Paquin is the worst dressed according to Joan Rivers and the gang. But she really shines in this heavy embellished black and gold dress. The slicked-back hair draws the all focus straight to the detailing of the dress.
Jayma Mays of Glee is right on trend with her navy Burberry number. Her hair looks fabulous and has the same body and movement of the train of her dress.
Diana Agron in Carolina Harerra looks very much like a young country star. Not that it’s a bad thing at all. Taylor Swift, take notes!
Jane Krakowski wore a custom-made Escada, again in navy with interesting detailing on the shoulder and hip and she looks stunning.
The best thing about Heidi Klum total look for the award show is how everything perfectly complimented each another, from the hair to the bold necklace, her mile-long legs and the embellished shoes. She still got it going on in the micro-mini dress from Marchesa.
Not really a big hit among the critics but Lauren Graham‘s Yigal Azrouel B&W dress is very unusual but perfectly simple. She was clever enough to add a dash of color on her nails to take the whole look to another level.
Lea Michele in Oscar deLarenta was a huge hit but it’s a bit on the safe side and too old for this Glee young star. It does look gorgeous on her but definitely nothing that we haven’t seen before.
Rose Byrne in angelic white Gucci is very much Grecian goddess-like with the criss-crossing body and gold detailing.
Hubba hubba! Christina Hendricks in Zac Posen. This hot small-screen siren rocked the lilac number with enough level of sultriness and sexuality to make it straight to the best-dressed list.

Another critics road-kill, January Jones in Atelier Versace. The dress has the same shape of origami-like Dolce & Gabbana worn by Rihanna at a different award show last year. The dress looks stiff and heavy but she definitely shines in it. Just like a futuristic- goddess.
We hope to see more risk-takers like all these stars that we have right here because strapless mermaid dress and long glittery train has been done to death. We need a revolution on the red carpet!

i agree with Joan Rivers for Anna Paquin’s dress. maybe she should wear her hair differently.
and Diana Agron is the best dressed, imho. Not Lea Michele, the ruffles is ugly
