Jewel rich
By: CherrypopFor fall, jewel tones such as maroons, deep purples, turquoise, amber and garnet have been placed in the spotlight, steering away from the usual black. It’s also really easy to wear as they don’t scream like yellow and fuchsia do and they suit most skintones. Rather, they make everyone’s heads turn. Just pick your favourite shade and wear it in a deeper tone than usual.
Those who like to experiment can start with a scarf or bag in a rich shade to go with their all-black outfits, or to jazz up some pale neutrals. Even against the blue of jeans, these rich colours look great. For those who love colour and are willing to try on most bright shades, jump immediately into a dress or blouse of the colour of your choice and you’ll notice that you feel sexy and luxurious all at once. This is especially true if you choose materials like satin, chiffon and silk.
Here, a few starlets have stepped out in jewel tone dresses:
Hilary Duff went for a bandage dress in a beautiful green.
Molly Sims paired her burnt orange frock with heart pendants and nude pumps.
Leona Lewis carried off a satin dress with folds with sheer black tights.
We have a couple of dresses from www.shopbop.com that fit the theme perfectly:
A dress with cutouts at the back is perfect for a party.
Simple and fluid, this shape makes it easy for layering. Try this belted with a long grey cardigan over and some flat ankle boots.
This long sleeved number is almost office appropriate because of the demure length and the long sleeves. Throw a blazer over it to soften the colour and add solid coloured pumps in black or nude.
Perfect for an exotic holiday or for a cocktail event, dress it down (glamorously) with jewelled sandals or up with high heeled, tough, cage-like ones.
This is a simple sundress, great for casual weekends dressed down with sneakers or loafers to go shopping in. The colour stands out on its own, so don’t drown it in too many accessories.
If you have a special dinner date or there is a hot party to attend, this dress with block cut outs and a single zip will do the trick. Keep to bold, graphic accessories instead of pretty ones.
If you have a wedding or a formal function to go to, this dress will be a great accompaniment. Go for gold or bronze accessories to bring out its exotic hue.
A Grecian number in deep pink is seductive, yet fun. Its tiny pleats will add volume to your overall frame, which is great for the petite and slender girls.
A sunny yellow dress like this is meant for dressing up or down. A blazer and cut out heels will make it more elegant while flats and a hat will take you to the beach in no time.

A bright dress would look good with a black or white accessory too…you can try a white shoe, or how about with a black clutch?
