Everybody’s favorite foursome returns to the big screen once again in Sex and The City 2, picking up where we left off in the first movie. We’ve been waiting for months for the release of this movie, me included, and after all the hype about it leading up to the movie, I’m sure fans everywhere were expecting it to be one awesome movie that would remind us why we missed the series so much.
Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker), Samantha (Kim Cattrall), Charlotte (Kristin Davis) and Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) are back once again, and life in New York seems to be everything that they want and everything they could hope for. This time, New York is not the main center of attraction as the scene shifts to the Middle East instead, where Samantha has to come up with a campaign for a luxury hotel in Abu Dhabi and brings her three friends along with her. The vacation is a much needed escape for the foursome from the traditional roles of marriage and motherhood, and of course, drama soon ensues, especially when Carrie runs into a former ex of hers.

Having had a lot to live up to in the first movie (as well as the series), SATC 2 is, sadly, not as good as the first. The plot and storyline was a little too predictable, and some parts of the movie just seemed pointless. It was funny enough, but Samantha as usual steals the show and is by far the funniest of the three, especially as audiences watch her battle agaisnt menopause in only the way Samantha could.
Overall, the movie is not at all satisfying the way we hoped it would be, with the general concensus being that the first movie and the series was much better than SATC 2.
I would give this a three star rating.

Yeah. Not as good as the series and the 1st movie. But I’ll watch it millions of times anyway because I’m the biggest fan. The problem with SATC 2 is the fact that carrie is no longer that single girl living in New York. A lot has changed and SATC will never be the same again.
I still watch the series over and over again.

HUGE disappointment!
The cast has grown but the script writers haven’t. The characters need some polish – Carrie’s too neurotic, and Samantha’s howling in bed in getting a little old (yaaawwwn!!). The only hilarious scene was the gay OTT wedding, complete with Liza Minelli, other Divas, swans and all. And thank god for Charlotte’s confidence over the braless nanny – she’s grown up! No worries about her ogling hubby, but don’t take the nanny cuz she’s good with the kids! Now that’s having your priorities right!
The costume designer should be shot! Obviously, nobody told her (or him) that less is more – all those rocks on Samantha made her sagging skin (and body parts) saggggg more!
I think it was rate 4th in the Summer releases, but if they’re going to create SATC 3, the writers, producers, directors better pull up their leggings!!!
