Summer Is Here!- Best Summer Looks
By: hannef
Summer is here. Although we are literally living under the hot sun for pretty much every day of the year on this side of the world, there’s nothing wrong with jumping into the bandwagon and celebrate the arrival of the season.
We are also celebrating the release from the restricting and over the top fall/winter trends that seriously have nothing to do with the citizens of tropical country like us. I know how all of us suffered through the cropped leather jacket phase. Now that it is finally over, let’s chuck them all out and make some space for the latest summer must-haves.
1.Tie-dye
Once considered tacky and one of the hardest look to pull off has made a comeback in a huge way. It can be seen all over the runways of Proenza Schouler, Tibi and Tory Burch. Kristen Stewart rocked the Proenza Schouler look for one her Twilight movie premiere. The key to the look is to let it become the focal point. Make sure the rest of the outfits are basic and simple.
2.Small-framed bag
The big, larger than life hobos are out. If your baby can fit inside your bag, you know that it’s too big for your own comfort. The new summer bag trend is all about the boxy, small-framed bag with long strap and chain. Jak&Jil blog in one of the entries spotted the trend first at the fashion week. They look best in neutral colors like dark brown and mocha.
3.Side plait
It was first seen at Miu Miu before Alexander Wand decided to follow suit. The side plait shouldn’t be all too tight and proper. It supposed to look a little bit messy, half-done and most importantly you want to tell the world that ‘I did my own hair this morning’. Blake Lively wore her hair at one award ceremony in long side plaits and Leona Lewis wore hers on her shoulder, fish-tail style.

4.Military
Another trend spotted first at Tory Burch, as well as Balenciaga and Micheal Kors for the season is the military look. You might say that the feature in March 2010 issue of Vogue (pictured) is a little bit too exaggerated for real life. But military doesn’t mean khakis and olive from head to toe and you don’t really need to push it too hard that you started to look like one of the extras from ‘The Hurt Locker’. Take one piece like a Sgt. Pepper jacket (ala The Beatles) and wear it with a denim mini or skinny jeans. A pair of heels take the look to the next level.
5.Clog
Part of the key trend on the runways of Chanel. Alexa Chung is a huge fan. They cover the toes, which leave us worrying less about having our nails done. But the heels are on display which means any dry skin and cracked heels are unacceptable.
Now go on and make some space in your closet. Put the cropped leather jacket away until next season.
