Sheer Delights
By: aphrodite
It’s time to play peekaboo with the sheerest of sheer. Before you start to freak out, let me remind you there is a way (many ways, in fact) to sport this see-through trend without baring it all. We’re talking breezy, dreamy fabrics here – with delicate pieces of chiffon, organza, gossamer and soft lace too. Just the thought of those gauzy fabrics sound simply perfect for our weather! Honestly, I have always been a fan of sheer clothing but have never actually dared to put any on…oh you know, because of the unavoidable – those long, hard and obnoxious stares I’d definitely get. After some brief googling of course, I discovered that there are some pretty ‘safe’ ways to sport the trend – we’re talking sexy and not slutty.
Here’s a word of caution: Please don’t ever step of your home like Nicola Roberts. But I mean, if you really want to, you most certainly can. This sheer top jumpsuit might be strategically embroidered, however I get a sneaky little feeling that you might feel a little uncomfortable all throughout.
Check out smoking hot Jessica Szhor. At the recent Sex And The City 2 premiere, she donned a black sheer jumpsuit. Do go for sheer panel pieces so that you look trendy and stylish – minus the trashy effect.
Here’s the safest way to wear sheers – layering. It’s a great way to rock this trend without showing too much skin! Anna Friel works her sheer rose print blouse paired up with a pair of tight black leather pants. Jaime Winstone layered up to…but she shook things up a little by wearing a cropped spaghetti strap underneath. Do experiment with what would work best for you and your body shape!
As always, sheer blouses and dresses tend to expose the chest, shoulder or arm area with see-through material – it’s a practical yet sexy way to be dressed in. Alexis Bledel goes with understated chic with her all black ensemble. Ashley Greene chose a gorgeous light-green dress with a mesh panel on the chest while Cheryl Cole showed off her hands in this embellished mini dress.
Don’t want to show too much? Go for sheer patterned tights like Natalia Vodianova here. Didn’t I tell you that there are many ways to wear sheer clothing?! If you decide to go sheer, do send us your snapshot, we’d love to see how you worked this trend!
