Forever After….Or Maybe Not?

When we last left him in Shrek The Third, the lovable green ogre had settle down with Princess Fiona, saved his in-laws’ kingdom of Far Far Away and had three little ogre children of his own.
This time, Shrek finds himself in a whole new adventure. Even though Shrek has got good, he misses the good old days when he was a free ogre. Enter Rumplestiltskin, a new addition to this fairy tale story, who dupes Shrek into signing an agreement where Shrek is given the promise of reliving his glory days as on ogre for a day.
But all is not as it seems, and Shrek realizes just how cunning and devious Rumplestiltskin can be when he finds himself in a weird, twisted and darker version of Far Far Away and what his life would be like if things had turn out completely different.
With the previous success of the first three movies before it, the fourth installment of Shrek had quite a bit to live up to. And it rose to the occasion rather well. Even after four movies it can still make audiences laugh with its hilarious lines and comedic moments, the best of them coming from Puss In Boots and Donkey of course. They kept us entertained in the previous movies and they continue to do so in this one.
The storyline and plot of the movie is not too bad, but it wasn’t anything that would knock your socks off or something. Personally I preferred the previous movies. Inevitably, when you have sequels, they are always going to be compared to the previous movies before them.
Still, the movie is good for a laugh and will leave you feeling entertained well enough at the end of it. And the return of Hollywood heavyweights Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz, Eddie Murphy, Antonio Banderas and Julie Andrews who lend their voices to the characters we are so familiar with remind audiences why they love Shrek in the first place.
All things considered, Shrek Forever After deserves a three star rating.
