Sealed with A Drop

Everyone wears at least some form of make-up everyday. Whether it is compact powder, a foundation, a little blush, all of us wear at least some form of make-up daily. And when you do, it is essential that you have a good base on your skin before applying the make-up to protect your skin.
And a base that doubles up as a moisturizer is even better! Because you get double the benefits there, and it prevents your skin from getting dry and flaky. Don’t you just hate it when you’re applying your usual makeup, and suddenly you notice dry and flaky spots on certain areas of your face that show up visibly once the make-up has been applied? I certainly do.
Sometimes some of the products out there on the market do what they promise, and sometimes they fail to deliver. If you really want to find a good product that works for you, you’re going to need to test a few different types before you find your match.
One lotion I tried out recently is the Hada Labo’s Super Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizing Lotion. (It was the packaging that made me stop and take a second look at it , the name is certainly a mouthful I know!). The product looked really interesting.
The front is written in Japanese but they have a brief description and instructions written on the back in English, in case you need more information. And if you’re curious as to how is the best way to use this product, just watch this cute Hada Labo Japan TVC ad :
From what I could gather, the product claimed that it could hydrate your skin instantly and helps it preserve its optimum moisture balance. It also claims to help lock-in the moisture in your skin and helps to improve the condition of dehydrated skin, thanks to its Super Hyaluronic Acid ingredient which has twice the moisture retention of Hyaluronic Acid.

After doing a little bit of research, I found that hyaluronic acid is a natural part of the skin and is a great at locking in moisture), but then again the product claimed to use only the purest of ingredients with no unnecessary additives. And did you know that No. 1 lotion in Japan and there is a bottle sold every 4 seconds?
Amazing and impressive statistics, I must say. Hmmm, so why not give it a try? Since I’ve given just about every other product a go. And with all these good reviews, it is bound to be good!
Super Hyaluronic Acid (SHA) is the key factor in this equation, because it is the ingredient that makes the product work so well. It works by merging the skin, forming something like a smooth, moisture locking shield that seals in the moisture, keeping your skin soft and supple. Because it has twice the moisture retention capacity of Hyaluronic Acid (1gm of Hyaluronic Acid can retain up to 6 litres of water), your skin is given the promise of staying hydrated longer.
I have to say that so far I’m really liking this product a lot, especially because it does cure those dry spots on my face for one! After the first application, although it did not absorb into my skin as quickly as I would have liked, my skin did feel softer and more moisturized. Apparently , it takes a little more time to absorb into the skin because it doesn’t contain alcohol so you just need to give it a little more time and maybe a couple of pats on the face doubling up as a gentle massage. This product is a toner, not a moisturizer.
(Note: Only one or two drops are needed. The image above is merely for illustration purposes to give you an idea of its texture)
It is also free from fragrance, mineral oil, alcohol and colorant (low irritation) which is good news for all those who are sensitive to certain fragrances because no worries of a headache with this product. I also love how it feels really refreshing on your skin after application. And it is true that my skin did feel more moisturized for a longer period of time.

I may have just started using it, but so far I’m liking it and it does do what it claims so I would definitely recommend those of you who have been curious about the product, but perhaps a bit hesitant to try it, to give the product a go.
The product is exclusively available at Guardian Pharmacy at a retail price of RM40.90.
