Am assured-are you?

These days financial planning isn’t just for the “older” folks any more. Younger and younger people are being educated about savings and protection. Call me sour grapes, but I find it decidedly unnerving , not for myself but for that twenty-something sweetie carrying her Louis Vuitton bag complete with all the accessories like purse and coin pouches but up to the hilt in credit card debt. She is paying monthly interest installments just to service her “loan” from the bank so that leaves her with very little else for other types of protection and let’s face it, paying large amounts of credit card interests which does not reduce ones’ debt is hardly savvy financial planning. Deep down inside, you know although you look good to the world…question is do you really feel good about yourself if you thought about it.
I guess when one is in her twenties or teens, one sort of figure that one is invincible and time seems aplenty. Nothing like living for the moment and living it up, planning especially savings, maybe saved for next year. Then there is this thing called “passive income that everyone is on about…but folks “passive income “ through businesses like MLM for instance also means a lot hard work. But ask any experienced financial planner, the best passive income is through proper financial planning- yes, cash savings, insurance protection, diversification of investments and the whole shebang of activities which one is never too young to learn, because it is about making the right choices in life. <!–[endif]–> <!–[if !vml]–><!–[endif]–>
AmAssurance has an online game which I think is rather cool, http://www.itsmylife.com.my, it teaches you the different types of financial planning from adolescent, adulthood and through old age. It’s a neat game that just asks random questions no brainer questions about with some cute decisions. A very rich media driven game, so be prepared for some colorful times whilst you answer questions that might just make you think a little harder about your current and future financial status. You won’t get bored course , same questions but different combinations of “choices in life” could see you losing or accumulating more money. But your overall financial savviness will still materialize at the end of it…
Best part is, all the questions are supposed to help make you plan better as you grow in wealth and wisdom…yeah, just as I would have planned it if only I had played this game earlier. Then maybe I would have been one of those nouveau rich kids. But never too late, I guess. Hey, if Simon Cowell can do it at 40 something with only 4 pounds in his pocket and is currently worth more than 500million pounds in fortune through businesses like X Factor and being an American Idol judge with some very savvy financial planning in a decade; I guess I will not give up yet at being noveau riche and driving one of my five cars! And, one of them should definitely be the Rolls Royce Phantom coupe or the newly launched Ghost. So, yes, yes, I am going to brush up my financial planning savviness , game on…At some point I reckon, I will move it up from 1798 points which was 1200 on Quality of Life versus 598 points on Cash Wealth….practice will make more wealth, I guess…
Meanwhile, I get a chance to win weekly prizes of notebooks, laptops , ipods and much more . but the clincher must be the RM10,000 cash grand prize….so guess where I will be most days…ehem…
