Nothing But My T-Shirts On

By: hannef

Name one item of clothing that everybody has in their closets. The instinctive answer will definitely be t-shirts. We love our t-shirts for their versatility and the fact that we can wear one to bed and the same one in different color under our jackets on weekends.

But it was not until recently that people started to recognize t-shirts as more than something that they wear underneath their work clothes to hide sweat patches. T-shirts have taken a more glamorous roles being the central look for designer’s collections down the runway like D&G, Bally and Alexander Wang.

The current hybrid of t-shirts is more accessible and worn in more relaxed fit with broken in feel to it. The neck is cut wider and deeper. Designer Alexander Wang cut the neck of his tees in U-shape to achieve that slouchy look. The finest jersey fabrics used to create these t-shirts are super-soft and feel like they have been washed several times. The secret is actually the final process which involves the t-shirts being washed in soda which really do wonders to the texture of the fabrics.

How to Wear Them

1. These t-shirts look the best worn in neutral colors like black, white and beige.

2. They are supposed to be slightly loose but not baggy.

3. Don’t forget to do the ‘half-tucked’ if you are wearing them with your jeans.

4. Save them for weekends because there is just no way that you can get away with t-shirts on working days

5. Remember the idea is for the t-shirts to look a little beaten up but not dirty
