Celebs As Models
By: hannefI came across an article in a magazine discussing the role of male models in the fashion industry. Although they might not be as important and relevant as their female counterparts, the number of male models is escalating along with the number of men’s fashion magazines. The demand of the job is totally different than what it was perhaps four or five years ago. These male models are walking down the runways, doing campaigns, commercials, catalogue and editorials. There are no longer, as a popular female supermodel put it; accessories.
It’s all good until the current breed of male supermodels started to hog the scene. And we call them celebrity-supermodel…
Although it was more common in the past with female celebrity, fashion now has finally embraced male celebrity-models to lead major campaigns and grace the cover and editorials of fashion magazines. Some of them are even walking down the runways of big fashion houses, which lead us to wonder.
Are they really that good? Here they are in all their glitz and glory:
Tyson Ritter for Hugo Boss
Patrick Dempsey for Versace
Tokio Hotel’s Bill Kaulitz for DSquared2
Kellan Lutz for CK Underwear
These guys definitely have the look and we couldn’t help it if some of these male celebs are actually former models. They might not be Tyson Beckford or Jamie Dornan but let’s face it, they have the star quality and some might say, sell more product.
