Does Your Man Make You Laugh?

I am a man and in my line of work, I am being surrounded by women at least 70% of the time. I don’t have anything to complain about that because I love listening to them and trying to figure out what the hell is going on inside their cute little brains. When it comes to the topic of guys, I can tell that women mostly have their own personal preferences. Although in typical rom-com, most of these stunning creatures are being depicted as a bunch of princesses waiting to be saved by their knights in shining armors, I later found out that not all of them are these similar ‘princess-type’. They don’t necessarily expect their man to be all macho, deep-voiced, rich and oiled (think Matthew McConaughey). When I asked ‘my gurls’ to list down some of the qualities they need in a man, somehow the word ‘funny’ always comes up at least in the top five of their lists. I begin to wonder, what is it about funny guy that these women love so much?
In researching on this topic, I read this one article which is seriously very misleading. The writer was referring to funny guys as a bunch of male specimens who has to resort to humor to distract the ladies from their lack of chiseled physique and broody look. Or in other words, it is believed that most funny guys are ugly, which is so untrue. Maybe Will Ferrell is not as good looking as Colin Farrell, but think about Dane Cook (Good Luck Chuck). He’s a comedian and I have to say he’s quite a looker. Even Seth Rogen (Knocked Up) is looking better than ever now that he has dropped all of his ‘baby fat’.
But women are drawn to funny guys for the fact that they don’t take life too seriously. It’s good to be able to laugh things off when things get rough especially in relationships which sometimes can be very complicated. Some of my girl friends said that some guys are too uptight and need to loosen up and stop thinking about every single detail of life and relationship as if the whole thing is a complicated century old painting.
Funny guys are also mostly very comfortable with themselves and they don’t really give a damn about what other people say about them. They are easygoing and very carefree. This is exactly what a woman needs because it is bad enough that women have a lot of issues themselves (ie: workplace, family etc), the last thing they need is a guy who will weigh them down with his personal problems.

And finally women love their guys to be sociable and able to hold good conversation. Funny guys have the tendency of stealing the spotlight from you but it’s better than sitting at the dinner table with a bunch of other people in awkward silence. A boyfriend is not a trophy to be paraded around. They supposed to be able to get along and at the same time being accepted by other people in your life as well. A funny boyfriend will charm everyone with his sense of humor.
I guess being funny is a quality that makes a good boyfriend. Although it is not at the top of the list (respectful and educated always come at number one), being able to make a woman laugh is definitely another feather in the cap for us men.
Just look at Lara Stone and David Walliams (Little Britain). They’re getting married soon.
I guess he just makes her laugh.

I used to date a guy that was a funny man and laughed at everything. It was a great relationship until i realised he took everything as a big joke; when I cried, when his best friend touched my ass, when he forgot valentines day.. Now I look for a man that laughs.. In the inside.
