Take Me On A Mini Getaway!
By: hannef2009 was not a great year for me. Thank God it’s over. I don’t know about others, but mine was all about running around juggling different things at one time. So that is the reason why I decided to kick start my 2010 with a bang: a very elaborate New Year’s Eve party at Zouk and a day trip to the beach the first day of 2010 itself.
Day trip is an absolutely brilliant idea for those who need a little escape from the city’s demanding and not to mention, ‘draining’ lifestyle. It’s good to trade the dusty road and neon lights for a little bit of green and sunlight. And the best place to go for a quckie-vacay? I don’t know about you, but for me it has to be the beach of course!

For a day trip, consider a realistic destination like historical town of Malacca (if beach is not really your thing), the beach of Port Dickson or Sunway Lagoon (if you don’t mind the man-made beach). I know some people think that Port Dickson is not the most beautiful beach in Malaysia but for a day trip with minimal budget, I think it’s great. The whole point of having a day trip is so that you don’t have to be bothered with the whole booking of a hotel room or plane tickets process and the filling up of leave application. You can always go on weekends but Saturday is perfect just so that you can still have Sunday to prepare for the Monday blues. Other than that it’s really cheap and it can be like a little teaser before that Bali or Bangkok trip that you have already planned for September.
Here’s how to make the most of a day trip:
Go with a bunch of fun people. The trick is to have two or three close friends bringing along their other friends. So not only you will have a good time, you get to know people outside of your circle of friend as well. You just need to trust your friend to bring along someone nice, witty, fun to be with and definitely no party poopers should be allowed.
Don’t get too ambitious with the whole planning and arrangements. Keep everything simple and bring only the essentials because you don’t want to bring too much stuff that all of you will be totally forgotten about after having way too much fun. So, leave behind the barbeque set and the laptop is not coming with you either. Grab some KFC or McDonalds on your way to your destination instead and forget about the iPods because the only electronics that you need is a digital camera to capture the moments.

I hate it when people plan to have games or any kind of moronic activities that they do when there’s a get-together. We just want to have fun, why should we restrict ourselves and do things that might not be everybody’s idea of fun? Just don’t plan any lame game. Be silly and chill out instead. Don’t forget to take photos, go crazy in the water, built sand-castles and watch the sunset. Be spontaneous.
I had a lot of fun when I went to Port Dickson. And with minimal amount of planning and money involve, you will be surprised by how good it will make you feel. I bet you would want to go again and again.

Just don’t forget the sunscreen right!?
