Bra-vo!
By: Cherrypop
Making a fashion statement and showing off your pretty bra straps when you wear your singlet top isn’t something new, but these days, designers have taken it one step further by displaying bras and corsets on top of clothes, and even showing from underneath jackets.
It’s a tricky trend that not many will wear but it isn’t difficult to pull off. The trick is to keep everything else covered, which means no showing off your legs and back if your bra and cleavage are on show to avoid looking completely trashy. The best look is still to wear a cardigan or jacket unbuttoned enough to show your bra off.
Also, the look is best when the undergarments are plain, meaning having bras that have no lace so that it is simple and the least underwear-like as possible. Do not wear a transparent bra to prevent any chances of a nipple flash either! You wouldn’t want anyone thinking that you forgot to button up your blouse by accident!
Some runway looks to inspire you:
Bottega Veneta does it chicly with a structured corset top paired with crop pants and a soft jacket and wedge shoes.
Dolce and Gabbana emulates the pants-less trend and draws inspiration from the 50s with a cardigan and a long-ish corset top. In real life, this look will be good worn with mannish pants.
Fendi shows that this idea is not for the faint-hearted, with an all-over sheer dress and neutral hued undergarments.
Fendi does it again, this time with a luxe cocktail look in satin and a dramatic feathered cape.
Katie Holmes goes demure in an all-black ensemble.
Ashlee Simpson looks like she’s wearing a crop top, and paired with a fringed clutch and high waisted shorts, the look is adorable.
Chloe Sevigny does it vintage style with an embelished skirt, making the trend more romantic.
Zoe Saldana’s choice of fall colours lend richly warm tone to her outfit, while highlighting her upper half.
Leighton Meester lets a hint of a tube bra peek out from beneather her dress. Accessories are kept simple enough so that she doesn’t look too embelished.
