“I always thought I should be treated like a star.” - Madonna

After having worked with all the biggest fashion names from Gaultier to Louis Vuitton, The Queen of Pop adds yet another high-fashion campaign to her list! The 51-year-old fashion muse has now joined forces with Italian designers Dolce & Gabbana to showcase their Spring/Summer 2010 collection in the brand’s newest ad campaign.

It is no surprise that Stefano Gabbana and Domenico Dolce choose Madonna as their latest face; ever since Madonna first met the designers Stefano Gabbana and Domenico Dolce back in the early nineties, they have maintained a strong friendship throughout the years! Psst…yes… it was the D&G dynamic duo that designed Madonna’s costumes for the now iconic, “The Girlie Show” tour in 1993 as well as last year’s “Sticky & Sweet” trek around the globe.

“To have Madonna in our campaign is a dream come true,” Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana said in a statement. “It seemed only fitting that Madonna, who embodies both the strong sensuality of the brand and who shares an Italian heritage with the designers should be the one to showcase the Sicilian inspired collection. She loved the collection . . . She is passionate and impressively knowledgeable about Italian cinema.” the duo remarked of their upcoming collection.

Madonna steps aside from the fishnets and bunny ears for Marc Jacobs and dons lingerie this time around instead. The ad campaign which was very much inspired by Italian Neorealism cinema, Madonna looks like a superhot housewife-get this, washing dishes and eating spaghetti at a dining room table.  Such a domesticated Madonna wouldn’t you say?

The stunning shots were captured by celebrity photographer Steven Klein on November 6th in New York City and the images were published in last week’s Italian edition of Vanity Fair.

“The collection is very Italian, very Sicilian. It’s a return to our roots with a modern angle, so we asked Madonna to interpret it in a different and human way,” Gabbana said. When Vanity Fair Italia prompted Gabbana about the pictures, asking if Madonna knew how to wash dishes - “Certainly . . . she’s a very practical woman” - and whether she actually eats spaghetti - “Of course, and she can allow herself to with all the exercise she does!”
