Beauty 101: Blue Eyeshadow!
By: aphrodite
After my post on how to wear clothes in shades of blue, I’ve decided to tell you how to incorporate blue eyeshadow into your make-up routine! Yes, it’s possible; even though blue eyeshadow has been perceived as a faux pas, it doesn’t necessarily have to be. It’s all about getting the perfect shade & texture and fitting it into the right occasion & mood!
The best way to add some blue to your eyes? Use a coloured eyeliner. Start off with m ore conservative colours such as midnight blue, royal blue, azure and indigo.
Here are some awesome blue eyeshadow looks:

How to:
Blue Eyeliner
Dab on a neutral brown tone all over your upper eyelids, use your finger for a smoother blend. To perk up and make your eyes pop, line along your lower lashes using a soft kohl pencil in your selected blue shade. Smudge the line and blend it for a softer look!
Blue Eyeshadow
If you are not afraid to embrace bright and bold shades, try going for sky blue, cobalt or turquoise! Experiment and get creative with colours and pair them up with shimmery shades like silver. You could also go for the peacock effect by mixing together your blue hue with emerald green eyeshadow. Do remember to keep the rest of your face muted if you are going strong on the eyes.
Line and contour from your lash line up to your crease with your chosen shade of blue. Blend upwards so that the colour fades out. Shade and smudge the outer corner of your undereyes. Blend in the other shade at your lower lash line starting from the inner corners.
Which shade will suit you best?
Fair complexion:
Mix blue shadow with a little bit of purple to give your eyes more depth. If you want a more intense look, apply the colour over your lash line with an eye liner brush.
Olive complexion:
A silvery-blue will truly complement the orange and yellow tones of your skin while giving it a radiant glow. Stay away from blues which contain secondary hues as they will most likely give you a sallow finish.
Dark complexion:
To bring out the best in your skin tone, bright blues will turn out great as it will enhance your eyes without looking as overpowering as it would on fairer skin tones. Apply shadow on your crease and finish off with a lashing of blue mascara on your eyelashes.
Tip: If you have bloodshot eyes, stay away from the conventional black liners and with a navy one instead!
