What are you wearing?

As times progress, people are getting jaded and we simply had enough with things that we have already used to. Nothing seems interesting anymore and the same goes with fashion. We have pretty much seen it all. It feels like we have caught the “been there and worn that” syndrome. So we are always on the lookout for something different, something fresh and something new to cure our little disease.
Fashion designers for one thing always know what people want. They push the envelope to the very core every season with their collections. Everything has to be innovative and looks like nothing that has been showcased previously to the runways. Some manage to balance out that element with the terms of wearability, but there are certain designers who come out with designs that are very ambitious that they fit better in the art museum than the fall/winter runways.
Here are the low-downs of fashion innovations for the past few years:
- Louis Vuitton’s Tall boots
Tall boots for men never really took off. The look is sexy as hell on women but for us they are still just part of S&M costumes or riding gear.
- D&G’s combination of leather, studded sandals and fanny-pack
This is very confusing. The leather and studs make this ensemble look really tough but on a second glance you can see the teddy bear- print tank top and fanny pack.
- Etro’s vegetable inspiration
This particular Etro show was done in a garden-like setting, hence the chili on coat lapels and onions on turtle-neck sweaters.
- Givenchy’s leather lace tops, shorts, leggings galore
Riccardo Tisci’s designs are definitely very high fashion but try it on the real world, they are kinda scary.
- John Galliano’s flashbacks
John Galliano has always been very artistic and he always draws inspiration from the past. But for his 2010 collection, he sent his models down the runways looking like homeless-warriors. And are those really pants that they are wearing?
- Dior’s high waisted, pleated pants

On these models they are still acceptable. But on us, I’m still not too sure.
- Maison Martin Margiela’s disco leggings
Risqué and the mirrors look dangerously sharp. I can see this on any male version of Lady GaGa.
- Givenchy’s head to toe monotones

Hot pink from head to toe; good luck with the job interview though…
