Victoria Beckham-A Fashion Daredevil?

I had my fair share of singing my lungs out to Spice Girls’ Wannabe in the late 90s. Yes, I was one of the Spice fanatics. What not to love about the Spice Girls? The songs are catchy, the outfits are crazy and they have this sassy attitude that really screams for attention.  Scary, Baby, Ginger, Posh and Sporty emerged as a pop culture phenomenon that totally transformed the music scene. Unfortunately they quietly disappeared from the scene after a disastrous third album, Forever released at the beginning of the new millennium. It feels like the beginning of the new millennium marks the end of the Spice Girls’ era. But ever since then, there is only one original spice from the rack that sticks around long enough until today and I am referring to Victoria ‘Posh’ Beckham.
So let us talk about Posh Spice. I have nothing against her but I’m just amazed by the fact that people can never stop calling her trendsetter and fashion icon. The reality is she is just another WAG with a lot of free time and too much money to spend. And from the look of it, she spends a lot of money on fashion. I’m not too sure about time though.

Fashion Hits

I think we should still give her some credits for trying. She designs her own line, DVB, she is at the front row at every Chanel and Marc Jacobs show and she even guest-judged the Project Runway (which explains why Christian Siriano won). Evidently, the long winding road to fashion stardom has been a really bumpy ones for our little posh-girl. I know there’s nothing wrong with being adventurous and brave enough to grab stuff straight from the runway and wear it to go out and walk your dogs. Let’s face it, not all of us are Kate Moss and Jude Law.

Fashion Misses

I always use two words to describe Victoria Beckham fashion; one is “tight”, another one is “tacky”. She might get it right sometimes but most of the time it’s just tragic. So here are some of Victoria Beckham’s fashion hits and misses.

  1. As written by Hannef, there are certainly hits and misses for Mrs. Beckham. Nonetheless, I think she looks best in those classic black little dresses.

  2. She looks good when things are not too tight and skimpy. And she should learn about proportion.

But I still think that she needs a stylist.

  3. she’s my style icon!
yes, there are misses but u have to admit, but she wears them like a diva. Its her confidence that mekes all the difference. if someone else was to dress as she does, they would look horrendous.
