Here, here, who wants to win a new Sony Vaio and  have clean healthy tongue at the same time? You  know, I never gave two minds about the state or colour of my tongue , yes even though I was taught in school yadda yada… But, sometime ago during a networking session I met a guy whom I thought was not too bad looking with loads of attitude , but he unfortunately had one teeny tiny foible if one would call it such. He apparently had a way of calling the kettle black to his face or in this case my face. Imagine my utter embarrassment, when we were in the middle of  a conversation (to which I secretly thought we were hitting off rather well if you get what I mean) when he suddenly said, “…ermm your tongue is rather white…” I was dumbfounded for a minute, erm , is he coming on to me? Should tongues be mentioned at this early stage of our acquaintance?

My face must have given me away, he muttered in an embarrassed tone, “I mean I am a doctor and I am just concerned that if you don’t keep your tongue clean to have clean and fresh mouth feeling”. Red faced  I went “…oh oh of course, is it that bad, excuse me while I go check on it….” and I slinked away with my tail or rather tongue ….

I have since found out that one of the ways to keep your tongue healthy and white is by scrubbing it with your tooth brush and  in the olden days , I remember my mom used this metal or copper  piece twisted at both ends to scrape the tongue clean. But I also remember the awful choking sensations when one gets too earnest and  scraped too deeply.
