Guess what, Materiel has teamed up with Moda to allow a chance for graphic designers to showcase but really to show off their talents in the fashion world. This an attempt initiated by Materiel to give  local  budding talents a jumpstart in  the fashion industry.This event called Materiel Fashion +Art Contest was inspired by 2K by Gingham, an American label which saw its tshirts designed by celebrated collaborators flying off the shelves at Materiel , a hot cult boutique in Kuala Lumpur.

Students between age 18-25 years of age are encouraged to join and the ten finalists will have their designs showcased at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur from 13th to 20th November 2009.  The organizers are going around the colleges to encourage enrollment, so watch out for them. The winning designs get to be produced and sold at  Materiel at a later date.

There is  also a  second design for the  Heineken Green Room State of Mind Special Award.Winners will win  RM5000 cash prizes and winners will be judged on both designs. The winning design will be sold at under RM99 at Materiel according to Justin, owner of Materiel,  and they will be judged based on the placement of the designs as well as the design itself. The overall fashion effect will also ensure that they win extra points with the judges which means , it is not just design for a  white tshirt, according to Gillian Hung, President of Moda. The other judge is award winning graphic designer Chow Hon Lam of Flying Mouse Clothing a graphic designer who found success designing t-shirts.  So each judge will be looking for something different , but definitely innovation, creativity are big words here, so wanna get your designs commercially recognized and win some big money, submit your designs before 31st October 2009 to Materiel boutique at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur , Lot 3.62, Level 3.
