Isetan – I love Food-market
By: yetmeeIsetan Lot 10, recently relaunched its Foodmarket, and I must say they did a fantastic job . Whilst it is still bright and clean, it is however, not like the usual supermarkets where it is just plain, plain. It looks now more like a gourmet market. They now boasts of the usual food stuffs with the addition of some more interesting imported Japanese food items and more.
It spells of your corner food store warmth but with the array of stuffs from a supermarket. Surrounding the shopping aisles of Japanese food, an additional feature would be the fresh food counters, they have the famous and delicious Sun Moulin bakery at the corner which in the near future, according to a little bird would be adjoining an underpass to cross over to Pavilion.
At the Halal deli, they have a yakitori and kushiage counter; sushi counter and halal meat section (imported Australian beef) at the Halal deli.
At the sushi bar we had the privilege of watching a Japanese chef slice a whole blue fin tuna , specially imported in for the opening. Now I am not sure if they would be doing the cutting in front on a daily basis but that would be surely be a plus point if they do.
At the Fruits and vegetable deli , one gets to enjoy the salad bar (and how often have I heard my friends lament about not being able to pick up fresh salad on the go) well ladies the problems is solved if you are in the Golden Triangle , also one gets to enjoy cut fresh fruit and fresh juice counter.
Of course no sushi bar is complete without bento sets, and onigiri (an autumn specialty) so go get it while it is in season. For those who loves sanma, the silver saury fish , you can also get it here salted or grilled.
There is also a Sweet deli that sells delicious Japanese desserts from mini taiyaki (sweet red bean sandwiched between fish shaped waffles); mini dorayaki ( castella pancakes with sweet red bean paste filling); cream puff (with the ” softest” because I can’t think of a better word cream filling); swiss roll (only on the weekends) in matcha and azuki cream …is your mouth watering like mine as I type this article because my taste buds recall the tastes.
At the Non-halal section , there is low fat, low cholesterol pork. Katsuo sando sandwiches ( sandwich of thick slice tonkatsu cutlets in low fat pork), takoyaki (savory octopus dumplings then with a choice of ten different topping , yums…) The first time I had this, I was on a student exchange programe to Japan. It was a cold autumn weekend, on Harajuku street, a street stall… warm octopus dumplings …yums)
Here, one can also get minestrone soup (with vegetables and ham), corn soup, chawanmushi and pasta.
Did I get carried away about the food, well, as mentioned earlier the whole concept is meant to provide a modern day shopping experience. You love to eat , you are a yuppy (don’t like the word too much but you get the drift), you shop in comfort in a very modernized well designed environment. I thought the black tiles of the walls gave the place a very sophisticated air. Imagine this , a well dressed stilleto-ed career lady, can shop in comfort hang out with her friends in between the shopping aisles while getting her chores done. On top of that she gets to chow down , err, I mean luncheon in healthy fresh nutritious food.
This is also the place for her to “ta pau” or do take outs for her office or home parties. Supermarkets or foodmarkets experience have definitely been redefined here.
There are lots of promotions and activities going on and yes they also do homedelivery service in Klang Valley , check it out www.isetankl.com.my
