Alexander Wang Resort 2010

Life is good for Alexander Wang. It was only a few season ago that he debuted his first collection and now he is already a house-hold name cited by stars like Lauren Conrad, Christina Aguilera and Rihanna as favorite.  His collection connects really well with the Hollywood crowd because of the LA vibes of his clothes. It caters to the stars that seem to love everything cropped, very lay-back and have broken in feel to it.

For Alexander Wang Resort 2010 collection, the young designer sticks to the same aesthetic but added some new ideas to keep things fresh and new. Wang keeps everything short and he decided not to steer away too far from his previous collection’s soft, pastel color palette. Even the denims are very faded. But at the same time Wang introduced new pieces like satin short jumpsuit, knitted peek-a-boo tops, cropped sweatpants-like shorts and also double breasted jacket which was inspired by menswear collections.

aw8Wang has always been able to pull off unconventional pairing, for instance in this collection he managed to make a chunky knitted shift dress and a sports jacket looks totally awesome together. A pair of sweatpants and a very romantic lace top were also thrown on together to create a whole new look.

But it was quite a surprise how this time around it was the dresses that really stole the show. Wang experiments with the Greek-goddess silhouette but staying true to his point of view by mixing it up with his personal touches. The results are some really fresh outtakes of draped dress and also skirts in fabrics like jersey, silk and sequined variety. One of the best look from the collection has to be the denim sleeveless paired with draped short skirt and a suede bag. The denim sleeveless really evened out the dressy elements of the draped short skirts making it fuss free and not to mention totally chic.
