Abbey Dawn by Avril Lavigne Spring 2010 collection
By: CherrypopSinger and now designer Avril Lavigne recently launched her latest collection at New York fashion week. Called Abbey Dawn by Avril Lavigne, the collection features neon pinks, black and white checks, bowler hats, top hats, leopard print and mussed-up school wear. The ‘Rock and Roll’ themed fashion show was held at Style360 at the Metropolitan Pavillion. The range is named after Avril’s childhood nickname.
“It’s really for anyone of all ages,” she said about the line. “Girls who like to express themselves through fashion and go nuts and wear some cool rock and roll pieces.” With the catwalk models wearing everything from spiky accessories and neon prints to ripped leggings and studded cut-off shorts, it is evident that the designs would be typical of the singer’s style. “The beauty with fashion is that you can just mix and match and that’s what I like to do. I love to wear dresses - sometimes! But if I wear a dress, I like to wear Converse or Doc Martens. Tonight, though, I did make myself wear high heels,” said the “Girlfriend” singer with a laugh. “It was really hard. I was going back and forth: Do I wear the heels or do I wear the Converse? And I was like, ‘All right, Avril, it’s your fashion show. You better wear the heels.’”
According to her, the brand is all about being “a free spirit and having a rock and roll edge” but it’s easier to get that vibe when you’re wearing jeans and a hoodie. “As long as you have the confidence”, she says, “you’ll wear the look in a cool way and not risk costume comparisons. I encourage people to feel comfortable with their look and not worry about what others think. With fashion, there should be no limits.”
Avril states her favorite piece in this year’s more colourful collection as “the hoodie with the drawstrings that have ear buds. You can listen to your music and have your iPod in the pocket. It’s really cool.” Abbey Dawn by Avril Lavigne is available in Kohl’s stores and online at www.kohls.com

Studs, glitter and tulle make for a very punky 80s combination

With some of the models at her show decked out in her signature rocker girl style - ripped tights, leather and check motifs, which coincidentally are hot for fall.
Some of the designs from her collection:

Leggings and a tank top in the same glittering print but one worn with a black tutu and a jacket and the other with rolled up jeans.

Flat lace up boots tucked into pants looks street-wise when matched with printed tees.

Plaid goes punk in the form of a skirt and when layered over a bright tee and ripped jeans, the look is casual, yet trendy.

Layering socks underneath boots gives the illusion of higher boots while the stripes add a sporty vibe.
Which outfits do you like from the Abbey Dawn by Avril Lavigne collection?
