StyleSpot: The Sex and the City 2 Stars are doing the 80’s!
By: Rachel Desiree
Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte and Samantha are back! This time around styling it up with a flashback of the eighties fashion. Remember my previous post on the 80’s styles?
Well, here’s to show you that even the fabulous four are wearing fresh, funky and fun costumes on the set. The ladies began shooting the Sex and the City 2 movie in New York City at the beginning of this month, due for release in May 2010.
I’m pretty sure you are just like me; totally excited to see what the prequel has in store. Meanwhile, here are some special on-set snaps to keep you eager!
Kim Cattrall who plays sultry Samantha pairs up her big hair with a studded denim vest, leopard bustier and snakeskin leggings tucked into a pair or striking red ankle length boots. Of course, she didn’t miss out on the clutch and Walkman!
Miranda with her hands full, struts down a Manhattan side-walk in an eighties style power suit teamed up with the white trainers and ankle socks. Check out those gold earrings-reminds me of my mummy’s old school earrings!
Charlotte’s classic and preppy style gets a twist! She still looks every bit polished, just with a dash of colour added to her style. The classic white shirt is paired with a bright green throw over, green patterned skirt, white trainers and a cutesy pink bag.
Here’s Carrie in a sporty version on the eighties. Full on 80’s make-up with an off-shoulder top, white slim-fit jeans, a pair of classic Converse trainers- accessorized with a single strand pearl necklace.
Carrie carrying off the classic 80’s Material Girl look! Corset, tartan shirt, tutu, lace cropped leggings, hair & arm adornment, lots or pearls, white stilettos and pink sling bag, she’s got them ALL on her!
From the looks of these snazzy pics, it appears that Carrie Bradshaw seems to be bringing out the inner 80’s girly girl side of her. I’m hoping to get to see what Carrie was like, way back before the cosmopolitans, Manolo’s and… MR.BIG!!
Renowned stylist Patricia Field herself in a rock-star studded belt, tattered acid-wash jeans, retro sunnies and red, red hair.
When Patricia Field, the costume designer (who styled the cast for last summer’s movie and also the original television series) told Us Weekly that the fashion would be “more fun” this time around, I guess this what exactly what she was talking about-lots of colours on the stars clothes and loud, bold make-up & hair! Totally 80’s, totally IN!
“When you’re in a recession, what do you want? You want to have a good time!”. “White plays a big role in general because the movie takes place over seven weeks in the summer. But it won’t only be white dresses! I’m going for a new look, new elements on these familiar girls.” She added: “I’m sure there will be some standouts that will unfold as the movie is filmed.”
