Beauty 101: Top Five Beauty Trends for Fall 2009
By: Rachel Desiree
Cherry cheeks
Rosy cheeks are in this season! Go for matte skin and put on some pink blush to give your face a healthy glow. For sculpted cheekbones, contour your cheeks with bronzer and blush. Start by applying a darker colour along the cheekbones and then use a lighter tone for the apple of your cheeks.
Bold Lipstick
Loud lips were big on the runway, appearing intensely at Giorgio Armani, Dolce & Gabbana, and Lanvin. From plums to burgundies and the classic matte red are daring colours that can still make you look romantic and pretty. Do remember that deep berry shades work best on darker complexions, while lighter shades will complement fair skin.
Au Naturel Brows
Don’t over tweeze your eyebrows this fall! Natural eyebrows are a great way to frame your eyes and bring them out. Just look at actress Brooke Shields! For those with sparse eyebrows, do fill them in with the help of pencils or shadows.
80′s Eyeshadow
Get quirky and paint your eyes with splashes of candy colours. Models at Roberto Cavalli, Versace, and Lela Rose sported rainbow shades of eyeshadow with some shiny glitter added in. Sweep some bright shades out towards your temples and don’t forget to pair up with matching glitzy, eyeliners!
Wavy Waves
Give your straightening iron and balms a rest because tousled, wavy hair is here to stay. Lucky you if you already have wavy hair. For those with a dead straight mane, simply spray in some salt water into damp hair and scrunch. You can also opt to use a curling iron if you like.
