Who’s doing it and who is wearing it? Not exactly new news but still worthy of mention. Not too long ago, eclipse launched a very sophisticated new range of bandeau dresses and drape-y gowns. I must say that their designs are very interesting and I am glad they did because even at RM50o a piece it would be a steal compared to 1300 pounds for the original Herve Leger bandage dress, even though it was worth every penny, according to Nicola Mclean who took the dress for a test drive before it was launched in Scotland last year just for its traffic  stopping effect.

Bandage dresses  by Hervé Léger was founded in 1985 by the designer currently known as Hervé L. Leroux since he sold the brand name Herve Leger. The designer pioneered the creation of the “bandage” or “body-con (body-conscious)” dress, using materials traditionally associated with foundation garments to create dresses that would mold and shape the wearer’s figure with its signature bandage-like strips.-wikipedia
He was inspired by the bandages that wrapped the mummy and legend has it that these clothes are so comfortable one wonders if it is bandages wrapped around the body.

Hervé Léger bandeau dresses  are made from bands of stretch fabrics, wool, or silk woven with Lycra or Elastene which will wound around the body for a tight fit.  As he puts it, he makes clothes for women who like to be beautiful , who want to please and be noticed….

But all this colorful tight fitted , sort skimpy dress trend was relegated to the background in the late 1990s and early 21st century. However as fashion always revives itself and since the last two seasons has seen us go back in time through the seventies and eighties era, bandage dresses were once again unwrapped to reveal their true beauty and elegance albeit with a modern twist in the Fall  of 2008 by BCBGMazAzria, the new owner who bought over the brand in 1998 along with a whole archive of original designs, at Bryant Park for the Spring Summer 2009 season.  It has since caught quite  a following of young followers and fashionistas worldwide. Since then Linday Lohan , Kim Kardashian and Victoria Beckahms are among the notable names who wears them.
