My Autumn Winter 2009/2010 Favorite Picks-Part 1
By: yetmeeThis autumn winter 2009/2020 sees some of my favorite items making a grand entrance. The best part is , it isn’t entirely new either. My top four must haves is anything in teal colour, anything in velvet, hand held bags and most definitely leather. Best part is all four can be worn separately or together and can recycle from the past seasons.
Meet Teal, The New Black
This colour really brings out the brightness of your skin. Best worn on lighter skin but darker tones will also benefit creating a dark lustrous combination. This colour is now seen in sequins, sheer, layered, tone on tone and works day to night. So move over LBD. This season designers have matched navy blue against this colour as opposed to black which is to severe a combination.
Romancing The Day
Velvet has always been an autumn winter must have but this year’s velvet sees it velvet modernized. While still retaining its luxe, glamour and Victorian feminism, it is sexier and more versatile. It is a look that one can where day to night and or night. It isn’t bogged down by the serious feel of Victorianism; it is light and flighty yet still very sophisticated. The versatility of velvet is shown in folds , structure and the technology of making the velvet.
Velvet now is no longer high glamour or marmish, but the brilliance is the combination of all to translate the new glamour with a something borrowed from old and new. From Victorian ages, the new booties are worn with tight fitted sheath velvet dress; from the 1920′s glamour of Katherine Hepburn years – fitted evening gown and for a day wear look at Elie Saab and Carolina Herrera; at Louis Vuitton’s, it is functional glamour matching velvet with tweed and definitely playful is a key theme at Marc Jacob’s. Colours are berry, grape , gold and black.
