Versatility with eclipse
By: CherrypopThere is one thing Xandria Ooi is known for and that is being multi-talented. Not only is she an author, emcee and TV host, she has also modelled for labels including Malaysian eclipse. Having recently fronted the eclipse Fall Winter 2009 campaign, the 26-year-old talent has now embarked on creating a limited edition ready-to-wear capsule collection for the label.
The idea of the capsule collection sparked with a tête-à-tête between Sonny San and Xandria Ooi about the current economic situation, style, designing and the business of fashion. Xandria had candidly remarked about the fashion predicament she faced being in the entertainment industry, saying: “I personally don’t really like to keep wearing the same outfit, yet I don’t want to spend heaps on shopping either, so I’m constantly faced with the dilemma of “how am I going to wear the same twice without giving away the fact that I am wearing the same outfit?”
The same problem is encountered by those who are constantly on the go and need to pack light especially if they travel overseas and need several outfits for different ocassions. Thus sparked the brainstorming beginnings of “convertible” pieces. The idea quickly snowballed into limited edition capsule collection, “Xandria Ooi for eclipse,” a collaborative design effort between Xandria and eclipse consisting of pieces that can be worn in several different ways without compromising on design or fit.
“It was a surprisingly quick process! Working with a professional like Sonny is certainly a bonus. He understands my style and is willing to experiment with ideas, whilst still steering me in the right direction” says the raven haired girl.
“One very important factor in my collection is that the outfits make a woman feel good – confident, sexy yet comfortable – and I knew that Sonny could definitely help me create what I had envisioned. I think (and hope) the public will like the creativity of the collection and can see how Sonny and I have fused our fashion philosophies and my personal style into the collection.”
There is a jumpsuit, romper, sarong and tunic styles in classic shades of black and blue.

You can wear it knotted into a halter. This shape emphasises the bust area, giving it an empire shape which is flattering.

You can transform the jumpsuit into one with cap sleeves – flattering for the arms and gives a little more coverage if you want it.

The toga style is sassy and very trendy.

You can opt for a simple, strapless version with emphasis on the waist and even top it off with a blazer for the office.

Add heels to this romper and you can take it out dancing just likeyou would a LBD.

Cover up a little more, yet show your legs in this criss-cross number that shows your shoulders/

Bare some cleavage in this low-cut version. Amazing how your look can be transformed just like that!

The sarong dress can be done up halter style.

Copy celeb’s dresses by fashioning your own style out of this one shouldered number.

Wear a jewelled necklace to show off your decolletage.

The tunic tied up at the side draws attention to the legs and is roomy enough so you feel comofrtable in it.

Another way to wear the one-shoulder dress with strategic draping.
The pieces in the collection are not only convertible, but are also versatile going from corporate to sexy in an instant! There are at least 5 different ways to wear them, ensuring that it looks like a different dress altogether when you put it on. Each convertible piece will also have a little “how to wear it” booklet to show the ways to wear the piece but surely with some time and a little experimenting, there are bound to be endless ways to wear it. Do’t forget to add accessories like stacks of metallic bangles, disco-worthy earrings and glitzy bags.
The collection is available at eclipse stores in Pavilion, KLCC, and Sunway Pyramid.
