Target and Rodarte get wrapped up for new collection
By: CherrypopDesigner Rodarte,, known for dressing celebrities like Kiera Knightley and Reese Witherspoon will design a Target line as part of the chain’s Go International series. Regular Rodarte items typically comes with four-figure price tags. For example, the leather cutout thigh-highs from the spring collection are US$920, a leather bomber jacket is US$3,450, and a hand knitted skirt is US$2,185. But the Target line, comprising 55 pieces, will range from US$9.99 for knee-highs to US$79.99 for a leopard-print jacket. The line will launch at most Target stores and on Target.com on 20 December and be available through 6 February.
Rodarte – the label famous for shoes that could draw blood with one swift kick, crotch-high pant-boots, and dresses intricately crafted with loops of string, leather, and tissue-thin fabrics – is known for tremendous attention to detail. Target promises their Go collection will reflect this.
A Target spokesman said of the collection: “It’s very feminine, yet very modern. The collection incorporates a rich mix of patterns and fabrications and everything from sequins and bows to faux fur. The key with Rodarte is layering. Rodarte, which is known for evening clothes, designed “a variety of great holiday dresses,” Thomas said. “There are stand-alone pieces and pieces that can be worn together to create an ensemble by layering different patterns, textures and prints.”
Rodarte designers Kate and Laura Mulleavy have yet to comment on the collaboration but we’re expecting something extraordinary. While we may not have visuals of the collection just yet, there are pictures of their catwalk creations which will give you an idea of what to expect of their style.

Some outfits from their Spring ’09 collection with their trademark layered effects with fabrics:

Their dresses are pretty but yet almost punk-like

A gorgeous gown with a watercolour effect.
Their latest Fall ’09 collection:

Metallics criss-crossed with a crinkled effect

Delicate netting and different fabrics make this look rocker chic.

This dress is extremely similar to one which Reese Witherspoon wore to the premiere of Monsters vs. Aliens, except hers was more silvery and she wore them without the PVC tights.
