Lily Allen jewellery

British singer Lily Allen has given us yet another reason to smile. Having recently fronted the Chanel ad campaign for bags and created a clothing line for British retailer New Look, the 24-year-old has a new line of jewellery, titled simply Lily Allen.

“I love jewelry, always have. I feel that it completes an outfit,” said the bold singer, famous for hits like ‘Smile’ about her line. Comprising of nine ranges and aimed at women between 14-40 years old, one can expect cute and whimsical motifs such as enamel flowers, fruits, traffic signs, pandas, flamingos and pumpkins, in silver, gold or covered in crystals.

“Wearing something out that you probably won’t see another person in is a pull for me,” is the Lily Allen mantra, which is why she cites Chanel’s “unique” jewelry and Brit jewelry maker Dinny Hall and her everyday life as influences. She explains her inspiration, saying: “All of the designs stem from anything whether it’s the surroundings of places I’ve been to around the world, objects I’ve seen…anything. The list could go on forever.”

She cites her favourite piece as the panda pendants.  “I do love the animals …The pandas are fantastic.”

At the recent launch of her line, the black tuxedo-clad Lily said: “I was so excited when I was asked to design a jewellery collection. I was in New York and literally went straight out to a bookshop and bought about 40 reference books, on everything from antique jewellery to modern day bling. Then I went through them and chose loads of things that inspired me. I sent them to the designers with annotations on how I wanted the pieces to look and how to update them.

“I had no idea about how to design a coherent collection so I asked my old friend, jewellery designer Solange Azagury-Partridge, what to do. I have always loved her stuff. She told me to design different ranges within the collection.

“So that’s exactly what I did,” admitted Lily. “Firstly there’s the coin collection which is a nod to my gypsy past. My grandmother was a proper gypsy, and I have inherited quite a lot of her pieces. We took the idea of coins as the basis and then updated them by putting moons and stars on the faces.

“I also wanted to do something with fruit and animals, and of course smiley faces to match my body tattoo. I love the idea of layering jewellery and all the pieces will cost between £30 and £100, so everyone will be able to afford something. My favourite piece is the pink diamante flamingo on a long gold chain.”

The range is coming out just before Christma, in time for plenty of gift giving for family and friends. Here is a preview of some of the pieces in the range.

  1. The actual making and wwaring of the jewellery is also a significant part of their culture and has transcended from the hilltribes in Northern Thailand practiced by a few tribal specialists the large factories of Chiang Mai. Now in Chiang Mai, influenced by these ethnic designs, you may also find contemporary bracelets rings, necklaces and earrings on Wualai Street. All are nice ornaments. The model is also good.
