How to Curl Short Hair

Long or short the length of your locks, you can curl them! For a young and bubbly look, go for tight curls while looser curls will give you voluminous, sexy hair.

The best and easiest way to curl your short hair is to use a curling iron that is small in diameter. With most curling irons, there are interchangeable barrels for different types of curls.

All you need to do is wrap sections of your hair around the heated barrel. Hold for a minute, and then release. Do this to every section, until you have curled your whole head. Finish off with some hair spray to set the curls and hold them in place.

Heat up the curling iron to what would suit your hair best. Coarse hair can withstand more heat than fine hair. It’s best to practice using your curling iron the night before.

If you have stubborn hair that is difficult to form curls, apply some hair gel or mousse to slightly damp hair then curl with the curling iron.

Remember to be extra cautious with the curling iron especially if you have short hair. The iron will be close to your scalp so, becareful not to burn yourself.

Another way to curl your hair is by using curlers (the plastics ones), bendy rollers or even the newest type which are foam ball rollers.

Curlers come in various sizes, pick the ones that are small enough to wrap your short hair at least once around. Apply some mousse on damp hair and wrap in the curlers. Allow your hair to dry naturally or use a hair dryer on low setting to speed up the process.

When your hair is fully dry, remove the curlers and style them as you want.

You could also use bobby pins to curl your hair; however this is only for the patient ones out there. Again, on damp hair wrap the hair around your fingers to make a small curl. Secure with a bobby pin. It’s best to do this before going to bed as it gives your hair time to set the curls. Do use a hair net to keep them in place and once they are dry, you can arrange the curls to your liking.
