Cityscapes rule at Banana Republic
By: Cherrypop
Just as we thought summer wasn’t going to end, the stores are coming up with their fall collections. So quick, you may ask? Well it’s better to be ahead of the fashion pack, and Banana Republic’s latest collection offers just the right classic infused with fall’s hottest trends that are completely wearable.
The new silhouettes feature gently layered volume at the shoulders and a lean pant leg which elongates the form. Textured fabrics feature greatly in the collection in the form of soft knits, cashmere sweater dresses, smart wool jackets and the chunky eternity scarf. They can be layered for added warmth in colder places, or worn simply with other items in your wardrobe. From a draped shoulder shift dress to a silk-trimmed cardi, urban separates impart an air of understated ease. There is also an occasional print thrown into the mix in the form of a blouse or two, which pops from beneath jackets.
A solid foundation becomes paramount for both the women’s and men’s collections. For her, skinny pants in charcoal denim or matte black leather pair perfectly with lace-up booties in velvety suede. For him, super soft chino serves as a strong base for shawl-collar cardigans, waxy leather motorcycle jackets and military-inspired blazers.
Simplicity doesn’t rule out little details. There are rugged rope details that finish off dapper pea coats, button-downs are left unfastened and the worsted wool two-button suit is modernized with sporty zip cardigans beneath. Honeycomb knits, cabled cashmere and classic corduroy warm and incite the senses while special pieces like a moleskin coat and city boots-pair perfectly with confident essentials like crew neck sweaters and a military-inspired blazer.
Edward Hopper’s picturesque cityscapes influence the holiday palette of concrete, onyx and graphite tones while streetlight shades of metallic amber and cardinal red punctuate these nighttime hues. Designed in supple suede, the Bardot trench is fit for celluloid still while sleek black separates and champagne-colored dresses in filmy washed silk channel the grace of noir heroines. A cross-body chain-link purse plays a major role in accessories as does the exaggerated beret and elbow-skimming leather gloves-two finishing touches that are as much about weathering the elements, as they are accents for modern drama.
Here are some visuals from the runway:

Printed scarves worn loosely add chic to a dark outfit.

Light layers ensure easy wear and you can remove them as you please depending on the temperature.

A feminine blouse in red is toughened up with boots haphazardly tucked into jeans.

Light neutral tones brighten up a dark colour palate.

A red dress with a slouchy neckline is unrevealing, yet sexy.

Different textures like a cotton tee, a knit cardigan and a soft zip-up jacket make this look.

Tones of cobalt blue peeking from under navy layers are paired with sleek grey pants.

The season’s hot print, plaid, is made the focal point of this otherwise all-black outfit.

The ultimate urbanite will feel at home in this printed blouse made warmer with a classic trench coat and black cropped pants with boots.
