The King of Pop remembered by many

You know how much Michael Jackson has inspired people when you feel the love in the air, far away from LA, in a shopping mall in PJ, when hundreds of fans turned up to pay a tribute to the great late Michael Jackson. Michael Jackson, who passed away because of a cardiac arrest is a great talent who inspired millions of people all over the world with his iconic songs. Sony Malaysia, Michael’s recording company quickly saw how much he was loved and planned a mini tribute within 2 days and boy did it turn out very well. Everyone came to celebrate his life and his music.

At 6pm onwards, people started pouring in and they all came clothes which MJ himself wore. There were fedoras, white t-shirts, black pants, white socks, black shoes and those ray bands. Not forgetting those tribute t shirts.

Fans who made these t shirts from an inkjet printer and ironed them on t shirts

You may not see Michael as a fashion forward person, but in his glory days, whatever he wore, the world followed! Of course, I myself was not old enough to follow the trends he set, but from what I’ve seen through videos and documentaries, he was such a big of a star that people followed what he wore. The one that would probably stand out the most were his jackets. Remember his red jacket from his award winning short mini film Thriller?

People bought them, wore them right after the video premiered! Even now, I am still hunting for my perfect MJ’s Thriller jacket lookalike.

His concert costumes were amazingly elaborate too. Michael ensures that his fans get the best show ever, and he puts on the best costumes and dances his night away. His dance moves are legendary. So many stars, including, Britney Spears, Chris Brown, Justin Timberlake, Beyonce look up to him and try to follow his dance moves, but they can never beat the king himself when it comes to moonwalking!

At the tribute, we saw 3 Mj impersonators who really took the stage down with their dance moves. The first 2 did not look much like Michael, but the third one, looked exactly like him. Too bad I did not get a good picture of them as the crowd was wild and it was so packed. They have been dancing to Michael Jackson’s groove for over 15 years and they paid their tribute that night with a few songs. Other fans too came up on stage to sing and dance to the classics.

Celebrities like Serena C, Pietro, Sham from Mix.fm, Point Blanc, Chelsia Ng, Sasi the Don, came and showed their love for Michael Jackson. The event was also hosted by none other than vateran host, Yasmin Yusoff who shared with us her memories of watching Michael Jackson in concert.

We all know how much trials and tribulations he has gone through since he started performing as a young child, but he is a genius since the start. He made not only hit songs, but really timeless and classic songs which even our kids and the future generation can listen and really appreciate the music.

Fans were given a chance to leave a note for Michael’s family and friends by signing a huge banner. This banner will be then sent to Michael’s management in US.

He was a singer, dancer, actor, father and an advocate of peace for everyone all over the world. Heck, Michael Jackson was urging everyone to go green way before going green was cool. I am truly saddened by his sudden death and I’m sure I’m not alone. I’ve grown up listening to his music and it has been there throughout my life. I cannot even tell you what my favourite song is because, I can’t decide!

His music will continue to inspire more people and his legacy lives on! You will always be loved!

RIP
