Clarins HydraQuench
By: karenmarie
Facing the world daily makes our skin vulnerable to all kinds of damage. Remember how I wrote about the importance of hydrating your face in this article? Now, many cosmetic/skincare brand took notice of how our skin’s so hydrated that they’ve come up with more products to help hydrate the skin.
From H20, Clinique, Biotherm to Garnier and now Clarins too jumped on the bandwagon with a new range of hydration skin care products to complement their existing range of Clarins HydraQuench.
In their recent product launch at KLCC’s Clarin’s Institute, they tested my skin’s hydration, together with Rachel and the other girls who were there. The Clarins skincare trainer, Miss Winnie took this gun-like hydration tester and placed it on our skin. All our results came out to be in the borderline of hydrated. We all needed a good facial which will hydrate our skin. We were also given a tutorial on how to use the creme mask on that day.
To test out the new products from Clarins, we were asked to go to the facial room and get ourselves a Madagascar Facial Treatment.
Why Madagascar you might ask?
This is because the ingredients in Clarin’s HydraQuench an essential item which hails all the way from Madagascar. The ingredient found in a special tree in Madagascar is called Katafray Bark Extract which naturally comes from the bark.

Katafray, rolled into a ball.
It smells like the usual herbs that you can find in most medicinal shops. This tree bark promotes skin hydration which also helps restore balance in the skin’s epidermis.

Cutting into the tree bark.
This Katafray tree bark planting project is one of Clarins’ community fair trade project, where they plant these plants and also develop the village surrounding their plantation by giving them drinking water and such. Another active ingredient found in Clarin’s HydraQuench is Hyaluronic Acid.

The treatment room at Clarins
As stepped into the facial room at Clarin’s Institute, I was transported into a different world. The institute takes pride in ensuring that their facial studio excites all your senses. From scent, sight and touch, Clarin’s therapist has got it all covered. This Madagascar Facial (RM198) comes along with a skin analysis and then she will explain to you what she will be doing on that day. including a detailed explanation of what products will be used. When it ends after an hour, the therapist will explain what products you need to buy for your daily skincare.
In the facial treatment, the new Clarins products were included. They are:

HydraQuench Smoothing Gel, RM205

HydraQuench Replenishing Lip Balm (With essential Rose Wax), RM75

(Not in facial) HydraQuench Cream Mask, RM135
They not only used these products, but a whole lot more products from the Clarins Institute, which are only available in the treatment room. After the 1 hour session, we could feel and see a difference in our hydration. The face looks more supple and hydrated. The trainer once again, tested our skin’s hydration and found out that the skin’s hydration has significantly increased! Well maybe because of the amount of hydration products that were placed on our face during the facial. I wonder if the hydration level will still remain after a few days of trying them out.
I will try these products and do a review soon! In the mean time, have you tried any of Clarins’ hydration products?

zawiyah: All Clarins products are safe to use as they only use 100% plant extracts. It contains no alcohol or animal extracts.
It is definitely safe for Muslim to use as most of our customers are Malays. So no worries about it.
