The annual Triumph Inspiration Award is something young designers all around the world look forward to as it enables winners to promote their talents on an international platform. Students from many countries including Malaysia submit their designs based on a theme and 10 entries are selected locally. From there, one is selected to represent Malaysia.

The winner is able to sell a limited series of their designs at Triumph stores. Last year’s winner,  Midori Matsuo, 20, of Japan who designed “Under Skin” will have her creation available in stores in August this year.

We were privileged to have had the opportunity to witness the judging and selection of the Malaysian representative.  Below are the entries for this year’s competition, themed ‘Icons’.

Eugene Ng with ‘Save Anna’

Eugene is the talented, lucky designer who will be representing Triumph Malaysia to compete with winners from 28 other countries in Milan on 23 September 2009. He won a fully sponsored trip to Milan as well as prizes worth RM2000. The 2^nd place winner, Choong Mei King from Carven Ong Academy walked away with prizes worth RM1,500 while 3^rd place winner Peggie Lim Phei Wen received prizes worth RM1,000.
