Faisal Sidik wanted to bring to life the meaning behind the powerful words of Edward Burke.
I am satisfied the ideas of pain are much more powerful than those which enter on the part of pleasure.
Edmund Burke
He wanted the audience to take the sublimnial messages from this artistic journey and move their senses and thereby making sense and connecting science and art on the same platform.

I managed to speak to Faizal and he explained his work in terms of exploring the sublime was really to see how far he can take the works. He wanted his artworks to carry as many subliminal messages as possible, Each open to any interpretation by the viewer, his art pieces which are almost 3 dimensional seem to be able to suck you in by it sheer intensity and is meant that way as he wants the audience to “re-experience” the journey . For instance, he drew fine lines with a pen and made a red vortex that sucks you in deeper as you stare longer, another piece was made with red dripping wax and it could look like blood , thereby embodying pain or it could just a a stream of red colour, subjective to ones subliminal interpretation.
Isnian Ibrahim , the perennial photographer explained that his works are part of an experimental process and journey for him , the ultimate destination is when he reaches a point when audiences are truly revolted by them in response to my questions as to why are his painting so dark and morose. He started off being conventional and taking black and white photos and framing them up, a process he detested due to its rigidity but something he needed to go through. Now, he is taking away all boundaries and restriction , just blowing up the paintings as large as he could with no edges , where it ends and begins is questionable. I am looking forward to the next phase of his works….
EliasYamani ‘s the spirals represenst the spirals and cycle and evolution of life in his “Lingkaran” Series and Khairul Azmir Shoib’s exploration of the scientific realm of the senses. Nurul Azmah’s ” Vertigo” explores the colours as seen through the eyes.
Mohd Fairuz’s ” Sensory Series were all about the animal kingdom, he had an elephant, a monkey , and last but not least , a swine which he timely entitled “Virus”, is about sensing the environment and current issues.
As in the words of Greg Lamber in his work “Cinema and The Outside ‘ in response to his awe on sensory milieu :
“in the sublime there are sensory-motor unity of nature and human, which mean that nature must be named the non-indifferent”
which is what this exhibition aims to bring forth and I must say caused a lot of exploration of my grey cells and I hope to the rest of the audience as well. Aesthetics aside, there is an intended depth to the works that challenges one to see beyond the obvious and to enjoy the works and the moment.
