Draw your eyes - tips on getting the (close to) perfect line
By: thebeautywriter
It can be a drag to apply eyeliner especially when you’re a first timer at it but there’s a fairly easy way around it - if you practice too, of course. Here are some ways to do it:
1. Cleanse your face
A neat line won’t show on oily skin. Try drawing on an oily surface and you’ll end up with zig-zags. Oil tends to collect on our eyelids as well so wiping the area with a clean cotton pad might do the trick. Another way is to lightly powder your eyelids with a loose powder to allow your eyeliner to set. Another trick is to use an eye primer which you can get from Stage Cosmetics as it creates a base for your eyeliner to stay on longer.
2. Liquid or kohl? How about both?
You can get quite a nice effect if you use both in combination. Try using blur kohl under your eyes, followed by black liquid on the top - the trick is to create a contrast. We always recommend waterproof eyeliner as it could get messy.
3. Quality of eyeliner
The quality of your eyeliner makes a huge difference. Choose an unknown brand and risk hurting your skin when you try to draw on a line. Always invest in respectable brands like the ones we picked below.
4. Master the art of drawing

Bobbi Brown Long Wear Gel Eye Liner, RM70
We love its gel-based formula! Dip tip of Ultra Fine Eyeliner Brush into gel formula (coat both sides of brush head). Wipe off excess on tissue before applying to eye. Work quickly as product becomes transfer-resistant once dry. To remove, use Instant Long-Wear Makeup Remover.

Clarins Waterproof eyeliner pencil, RM52 each
Its smooth texture and soft sponge tip makes lining and blending easy. It’s a little tad expensive on the side and it can be a bit soft at times but it goes on fairly easy.

Majolica Majorca Jeweling Pencil, RM26.90 each
Smudge-proof and long-lasting, these eyeliners will do pretty nicely.

Secret Pearl Eyeliner, RM13.90 each
Pick a colour to suit your mood every day! It doesn’t smudge easily, plus it’s a steal at only RM13.90!

the best eyeliner i’ve used so far (under the RM20 range) is The Face Shop’s pencil eyeliner. It stays on forever and doesn’t seem to smudge much at all, even after a whole day out. I’m already on my 3rd pencil now
