LV Shoes, to be or not to be….
By: yetmee
Yes, those are my pretty feet (airbrushed) but they are not prettier than the latest collection of Louis Vuitton Spring Summer 2009 , leopard printed suede platforms shoes! I was lucky enough to be invited by Louis Vuitton/Harper’s Bazaar to preview this season’s Louis Vuitton shoes, last week. For my feet , it was heavenly to be shod in these leather printed suede with gold tassels and feather platforms although the yellow buckle looked like something from my niece’s toy collection. They are actually pretty comfortable even at 4in high, yesss, yesss … and for me the very idea of actually wearing the shoes I have been seeing on the runway at the Milan and Paris shows , to get to touch feel and wear them , it was shoe heaven. Carrie Bradshaw, move over…so I am starting at one ( I dare to dream) and you have how many again…equivalent of a downpayment for a New York apartment…humphh.
But at RM7,850 or thereabouts a pair, would it seem awfully wasteful to wear these shoes….Shouldn’t one just buy them and frame them up instead? Allow me my ramblings. I mean at what level of income would wearing a pair of shoes like these seem justifiable or only slightly luxury. After all , it’s only your average senior executive’s salary for a month. If you were a senior manager at RM10,000 a month, it might seem fairly reasonable as you still get some change back. Then I guess it should be for those in the income bracket of RM40,000 a month (a CEO ) for instance where it would be about 20% of salary, I guess there would be more justification and occasions to wear it. But for me how often can I wear it , it is such a statement piece, everyone is bound to notice , compliment them and remember them (as proven that fateful day at the boutique). And as statement pieces go, really , one time would be one time too many already and the next time , it would seem like one can’t afford another pair of designer shoes (which is too close to the truth).
So , one obviously can’t ” just hang out” with the girls, because one might be accused of being , well, obvious and showy and shameless and seriously , think of the poor people who have just been retrenched right. I mean , one would want to be nonchalantly stylish , because if you want to go on Tatler’s best dressed or most stylish list, you got to wear designer something most days, who cares if you really have style and attitude , you don’t wear “branded” …so one would probably just scrape by, phew! But definitely elevated status and stature …hmmm
But seriously , I so want those shoes….please just send me a pair in the pos someone, anyone…
What do you think , would you buy or the better word is , invest , in a pair of of shoes that cost RM7850? Is it extravagant to own a pair of shoes like that….

phewww..thanks God my craziness is only for bags..but honestly i think its a bit too much to buy a pair of shoes for almost RM8k ..i’d rather spend all my $$$$ on luxury handbags than shoes cuz at least handbags wont have to suffer being stepped on the dirty corridor or sumthing u know..but of course this wont be an issue if u’re earning RM40k like u said

Hey, Irene, I know what you mean about stepping on things dirty and all, but what about your feet as one of the strongest limbs on your body…don’t they deserve fine treatment like fine shoes ?
