Rainbow brights

Last week, we talked about how you can get summer pink lips with the various lipglosses out there in the market. Today, we’re looking at colourful makeup which you can use to brighten your eyes this summer. Why take to the gloomy weather and state of economy when you can have fun with long-lasting makeup?
Since eyes happen to be the ‘eyes to your soul’ (and however corny that may sound), it is actually important to prep the eyes as first impression says a lot about one’s personality.
To get started, prep your eyelids with an eye base. They usually come in creamy formula which you pat some over the eyelids. Eye base works wonders especially when you want your eyeshadow to last from morning to night as it provides a base for your eyeshadow to stay on. Follow by your favourite eye colour. The trick here is to always vary between two close colours, example, if you’re using midnight blue, use a lighter blue like sky blue as a highlighter to blend, blend, blend.

Use the darker colour over the eyelid and concentrate more towards the end of your eyes. Use the lighter shade to blend over the darker colour and work towards the end of your eyes again. If you like, you may use an eyeliner to emphasis your eyes, followed by your favourite mascara. Keep lips to a minimum – use a light lip colour like nude or soft pink.
Revlon ColorStay 12 Hour Eye Shadow Azure Mist, RM46
It’s a long-wearing powder eye shadow that provides a just-applied look without creasing, fading or smudging up to 12 hours! This breakthrough new shadow features Revlon’s ColorStay patented technology with specially treated micro-pigments for silky, saturated colour. Can you imagine your makeup stays the way they are in the morning all through to evening?
Tip:
Mix and match the colours according to your mood. Use the darker colour to accentuate the corner of your eyes, followed by a lighter colour. Blend the light colour onto the socket of your eye and over the line for more definition.

ZA Eyes Vibrante, RM29.90
The eye shadow’s soft and high quality powder and micro pigment colours provide an immediate glow and beautiful strong colours for the eyes. It doesn’t crease nor fade, even hours later. It’s specially formulated with Vitamin E and macadamia nut oil to protect your lids, preventing it from dryness as it moisturizes.
Bobbi Brown Perfectly Defined Mascara, RM75

Perfectly Defined Mascara makes the most of every lash. In just one easy sweep, this ingenious mascara lengthens, separates and curls lashes for perfect definition. The secret? A unique multi-comb brush and equally innovative formula, working together to enhance each and every lash. Plus, this is a waterproof mascara – it stands up to sweat, rain, tears – but removes easily with lukewarm water.
Tip:
Finish the look by applying the mascara last after your eyeshadow so as you won’t smudge your makeup. One sweep for a natural look, two to three sweeps if you want to make your eyes more prominent.

Shu Uemura Drawing Pencil, RM60 each
The smooth gliding formula (means it won’t tug your skin too tightly) enables matching pastel colours to easily frame the eyelids to accentuate the eye.
Tip:
Use them underneath or layer above the eye shadow. Draw the line as close as you can to the above eyelid line.
