The market these days is filled with products that speaks of whitening the skin and making skin look younger and more radiant. Ask any cosmetic company and they will tell you that whitening and anti aging products literally fly off the shelves. So what is this obsession with staying young and looking whiter or a paler shade of white. Well believe it or not most cultures in this world actually think that lighter skin is  more attractive than dark skin and, the reality is,  its still relatively difficult to embrace aging.

Apparently men automatically choose women who are younger because they answer  to  primal call to reproduce,  and because of that men are apparently very good at detecting a woman’s age no matter how well made up  and despite efforts to disguise the age according to a  research done recently. Makes you wonder right?  So how can one tell aging … wrinkles notwithstanding would be coarser, sagging skin, discolored  skin with uneven tones and of course pigmentation eventually.

One of the fastest way to achieve a younger looking skin  is through a peeling or exfoliating process, through cosmetic surgery like laser  for partial removal of pigments or spots and fraxel for removing scars.  But there are also lots of counter or cosmetics out there that are slightly less intense , less expensive and over time, please read this again ,over time,  will reduce, NOT  obliterate or totally remove the aging and brown spots to give a fairer and smoother softer skin according to most dermatologists. But whatever it is that you decide upon in the effort to make yourself  look and feel better, please remember that in order to re-whiten or rejuvenate your skin with products, some mild form of peeling may have to take place. Watch out for terms like AHAs ( alpha hydroxy acids), you know a mild peel will take place, so use with caution.

What this means in simple English is that in order to get new and younger skin , you need to take away the old layer. So the more layers you take off through the exfoliating process , the better you look, but the down side is that your skin is thinning, so skin is even more susceptible to damage from any exposure to sunlight especially. It’s been ten to fifteen years  since whitening and anti aging products became a hit,  brands are becoming more responsible although many still omit to emphasize usage of sunblock with whitening products but  consumers either from bad experiences; more research and reading up have realized that protection and prevention from over exposure to the sun, one of the main causes of aging and damaged skin is very important despite all the expensive skin care. To not sunblock is to court irreversible skin disaster in some cases. So sunblock to enjoy your still beautiful youthful skin or  your newly rejuvenated one. According to Dr. Zein Obagi, MD, dermatologist extraordinaire, and creator of ZO2 an anti aging product,”… sunblock is not an option but a necessity…’.

L’oreal recently  launched the White Perfect Transparent Rosy Whitening  which is replacing the White Perfect in the market .This product is to address the yellow Asian skin  and the recognition that most ladies can now  enjoy a  fair skin with rosy glow.

So how does this new product work?

The L’Oreal Paris White Perfect Transparent Rosy Double Essence works in two ways. Firstly, the signature Melanin Block^TM inhibits the formation of melanin in the skin, therefore making skin less yellowish and reducing brown spots. Then, finely powdered pink tourmaline gemstones helps to promote microcirculation in the skin, generating a rosy effect. Overall, the skin’s radiance is also boosted by the Pro Radiance Complex, a combination of Lactic and Glycolic Acids that gently exfoliate skin surface cells. On the box of the product they advise using a sunscreen of SPF15  as the next step following the application of this product, although I would suggest going for at least SPF25, personally.

And why tourmalines?Apparently , in *cosmetics, pink tourmaline is used to promote microcirculation - bringing colour to one’s complexion. It is also known for its abilities to discharge negative ions present on one’s skin.
