“A Night of Red, A Touch of Luxury”

On April 2nd, 2009, socialites, celebrities and everyone in the fashion industry crowded at Pavilion’s concourse for a red carpet gala party in conjunction with Pavilion Pit Stop and the international prestige of the Malaysian Formula 1 Grand Prix.

The theme was red, as Pavilion’s colour’s red and the whole staircase was covered in red carpet, making the whole place look exclusive and perfect for a red carpet event. Of course, everyone came in some sort of red on their outfits. We ourselves went in glamorous red. Other party goers who came in red glam outfits include top corporate figures and socialites. Sighted on the red carpet were: Datuk Bridget Lai, Dato’ Hj Robert Geneid, Datuk Hajjah Raziah Mahmud-Geneid, Dato’ Maznah Abdul Jalil, Datuk Seri Mahmud Abu Bekir Tan Sri Mahmud Taib, and Dato’ Farah Khan. Also not forgetting the celebrities at the scene: Henry Golding, Serena C, Will Quah, Rashid Salleh, and Sharifah Shawati. Also spotted were Dato’ Nancy Yeoh and also MODA president, Gillian Hung.

Owh, Karenmarie, Yetmee and Cherrypop were there too :D

Everyone who walked on the red carpet down the staircase were chased by photogs who took photos like paparazzis. It really felt like a red carpet event with all that snapping going around. There were even real life models who pose as a mannequin and were displayed in a little box-like stage. They moved every few minutes or so to change positions.

The event started off with Bernie Chan parading down the red carpeted staircase with her entourage of male models and regal dancers. She introduced the night and the fashion show started after that. Collections shown that night were from Sonny San, CY Cheong, Tangoo and Singaporean fashion label Nicholas, as well as Carven Ong, Melinda Looi, Zang Toi and Gallo by Thian. These brands can be found exclusively in Parkson Pavilion. The show was entertaining and very fast paced, I guess to go with the F1 theme.

Right after that was party time. Camelia, a Malaysian fashion icon, came on stage with DJ Arafah mixing beats to get the party started. After a lot of bubblies from GH Mumm, the crowd went wild dancing the night away, while we slowly made our way back home after a really long day of fashion shows.
